Summer's End with Magic Friends

aw...so sweet.

Back for a bit. Dr. says I've got a heat rash. Makes sense b/c it's been in the 100s the past week or so. Unfortunately, nothing I can really do about it except to stay inside. :(

Corey gets heat rashes on his arms and feet all the time in the summer. He says they itch really bad. I hope they get better soon.

I have TS Erin head towards me maybe.

Hi Susan! It looks like it is headed your way. :brick: Up to now, hurricane season has been fairly quiet...but you certainly don't need anymore rain right now.

No one really wants to see the rain right now but our grass is starting to die. That is hard to believe but it is happening. We need a little bit of rain right now but not much. They say we might get 4 to 10 inches depending where is hits. Not much wind but rain.

Hi.

Today has been a WEIRD day. Just the way everything feels. It's been very... strange.

Tomorrow about 3/4 of my friends are leaving for college at UCF. Today some of us had a picnic at a park with other kids from school (many of which who are going to UF), and it was just a strange feeling when we all left. To say goodbye to people I probably won't be seeing again until my 10 year reunion? It's a very weird thing to come to terms with.

And then there are my close friends who are leaving tomorrow that I don't know what to say to. I didn't know if I should say the long goodbye because I'll be seeing them this weekend and also on my birthday. So that was weird.

This whole going off to college thing is a very unexpectedly strange experience. It's especially weird for me because I start so much later than everyone else. Instead of one goodbye to everyone like my UCF friends, it's like I'm saying 5 goodbyes at different times to different people because I'm witnessing everyone leaving while I'm staying put.

Oy.

Vince will like this story: took Abby to the eye doctor, and she tried to put a contact lens in, but couldn't....was getting very upset, so the doc said she could bring it home and try for a week to see if she could manage. However, since she also needs new frames and a slight change to her prescription, we started looking at them. The one she ultimately picked said Disney princess on it and stated they were 'Ariel' frames. The little hinges look like seashells and the frames are purple. She was super disappointed in the whole contact issue, said she didn't want to be 'geeky glasses girl'. Sigh....she looks so pretty with the glasses, just doesn't want to see it. She did like the frames though.

I've never had heat rash before, but it itches like crazy! I'm actually scratching my arm so much, it's kinda started to bleed. But I can't help it b/c then it goes right back to itching. :( This is almost worse than poison ivy. At least with poison ivy, there's medicine for it.

Ooh...I hope nothing gets bad in Sept when I'm at Disney. :(

It is definitely a wierd time. So I can relate to that. All my friends left me. It was so hard not knowing when I'd see them again, but we kept in touch through IM...that was good. We definitely weren't as close during that time as we were before, but at least we kept in touch and didn't loose track of one another. Then they all moved back home. So I get to see them a lot now.

You can put corn strach on the rash or use Lotrimin on it.

Abby reminds me a lot of me when I was her age.

I got contacts around that age. I don't remember having much trouble with it though. Let her know, that it's not going to happen immediately getting them in. Contacts are very hard to do right the first time. Let her know that the more frustrated she gets, the harder it's gonna be. So calm her down when she's frustrated. Take a break and then try again later when she's had time to simmer. It will happen, but it's just gonna take some time.
