I would tend to agree. It is really the only thing that makes sense at least. A few other possibilities along the same lines could be that their larger footprint is making storage a issue, or they require more frequent repairs (same wheels twice the weight), width issues in the smaller retail stores, or Disney simply wanting only one model to deal with which would again fall back to easier maintenance.Like I said in the other thread, the only reason I can see Disney doing this is that they are trying to eliminate the presence of the double strollers. The single rate seems still doable to me, but $27 a day x 5, 6 or whatever days - yikes.
As someone who likes and has used the double many times, this is a hard pill to swallow. Disney has to have a good reason, because families who enjoyed the service cannot be too happy about this one. I think there might be a few families that visit the parks on any given day. :lookaroun
It is tricky at times. What effects a single person one time has the potential for hitting me 5 times.Such an increase!! Honestly, I don't know how families afford it all!
The huge price increase really does stink. Even though I have 2 small kids (3.5 and 18 months), I had no need to ever purchase a double stroller and at this point refuse to buy one just for a WDW vacation but at the same time also refuse to pay that price to rent a double which I had planned on if we go later this fall. My 3.5 old daughter has had no problem walking around when we take them to places for the day, like the zoo or a festival, but have not gone anywhere as large as WDW before and wanted the double stroller as a back up more than anything since it would be difficult for us to carry her, potentially across an entire park, to leave for the day. I don't understand why Disney would want to discontinue having the double stroller? We cant be the only family with 2 small children or what about families with twins?
It sounds like there might be a miscommunication on one end or the other. I've had quite a bit of direct experience with stroller rentals, and here's how the process works (at least, this is how it worked this past summer. I doubt that there have been significant changes).Ok I just called Disney and the cast member I just spoke to on the phone said that the Length-of-Stay rental is a one time fee for your lenth of stay. I asked him 3 or 4 times are you sure that it is only a one time fee for the your lenth of stay and he Assured me it is. If ture, it is not a bad deal.
Rental locations have offered umbrella strollers for sale for quite some time, long before the price increases were announced.DisneyMusician2 said:Has anyone mentioned or noticed that they are now selling strollers at many WDW locations for about $40?
I wonder if they are simply trying to get out of the rental business all together.
