Never saw the Osborn Light show. Idk why but a show where you stand in a tight place, neck and neck with 14 million other people just watching a bunch of lightbulbs flicker to music never really appealed to me.
If you didn't see it you wouldn't understand.

Your description is akin to sitting in a pontoon with a dozen other people and floating through a warehouse looking at plastic figures that pretend to talk.

I've never seen wishes but a show where you stand in a tight place with a couple hundred guests watching a bunch of lights flicker on and off in the sky to some mashed up songs never really appealed to me.

It's more atmosphere. To me there were to many lights, it was just massive exposure and almost impossible to take in completely. What was cool was standing there in 70 degree temperatures and having the "snow" fall on you while listening to "Silver Bells", that made it what it was to me. But, it can, and I will have to bet that it will probably be partially recreated someplace in the park, perhaps in a more refined fashion. To me this is a less is more type of attraction. Don't get me wrong it was a nice display just a little overwhelming. They can do what they did on Main Street in Disneyland and I think that was even better. I wouldn't be surprised to see the light display return to Epcot at some point. There was never a more perfect place to have that then where it was before. (Sorry, my old brain is having a cramp right now and I cannot remember the name of that one.)

Lights of Winter. Scrapped in 2009 due to being too expensive to update (their words, not mine)

That's the one... personally, and it's just a hunch, no inside info... I think it will be back, new and improved. Don't forget at the time they had the Osborne lights, so there wasn't a lot of incentive. I think they are going to keep track of this years feedback and decide then. Like I said, just a guess.

Your hunch is wrong sadly

It's been 8 years. I appreciate you looking on the brighter side of things but sometimes it's a little out there.

They don't think they need them so why spend the money and time to update it? I could blindly just assume they'll be back because that's what Disney said 8 years ago but I don't live in a land of rose colored glasses (and I don't try and dwell on the negative, either).

Only because they had the Osborne Lights as a back-up they don't anymore. Now they have a reason and a park that holds huge crowds. I'm not saying for sure, they will be back, but, at least now they have incentive that didn't exist before. As expensive as it might be, it is pretty cheap for something that they can use year after year. With LED lighting it would be the answer to the lost Osborne's. If I were running the park, I would certainly consider it as a cost effective draw.

That's true. Thanks for better explaining, now I know what you meant. I'd love to see them return, especially without Osborne to fall back on (and you'd think they would be thinking of anything that could draw a crowd) but I'm sadly not holding my breath (I know, I should try and be a bit more positive ... LOL)

I can't say I disagree, but, that display was really loved and drew a lot of people up until the Osborne lights took away all the thunder, now they have left a major holiday void that people went to WDW just to see. We all can hope and in the meantime let Disney know that we would like to see it return. If it means money coming in Disney does tend to listen.

Anything new to show? I'm wondering most if there's anything to look at between Muppet Courtyard and the remaining SOA facade.

Disney still has plenty of options for Holiday stuff, holidays around the world at WS the christmas parade the christmas party and a bunch other. I can all but assume we will never see anything like that in that form again.
