Strange Question?

Last night, my husband noticed that almost all of my sports shoes were sitting on the floor, sans shoelaces. He asked what I was doing, and I replied, "I'm washing the shoelaces." When he stopped laughing, he told me that he had never heard of such a thing! (He also wondered about any other activities I engaged in that he hadn't known about in over 25 years of marriage!)

The question is, do any of you wash your white shoelaces? Or am I, as my husband asserts, extremely weird?

Well, if you're weird; I'm weirder! Not only do I wash shoelaces; I wash the whole shoe. At times, when you walk into my house, shoes will be dangling from the ceiling fans; drying.

I wash sneakers and laces, too. Sometimes together sometimes apart. You can find them hanging outside on the line or clunking around in the dryer.

Don't feel weird. Yesterday my co-worker admitted to wiping her dog's rear end with baby wipes after each and every- uh- trip outside.

I KNEW IT!

My husband was acting like it was the most ridiculous thing he'd ever heard! I guess it must be a female thing.

The shoes aren't washable, but I use a special cleaner for them. I decided a long time ago that he was on his own when it comes to cleaning his shoes...I had to draw the line somewhere! Washing sweaty socks and workout clothes is bad enough! :hurl: (Especially when he forgets them in his car for a few days...or weeks!)

I started washing mine when I was in nursing school...lost points if your uniform wasn't just so. I have a hard time finding shoes that fit ( size 6 1/2 EE) so I kept them until the bitter end.
With the kids...the dirtier the better.

I do think that the whole adoration of footwear in general is more of a female thing. How many men do you see at the mall trying to find an outfit to match a certain pair of shoes and not the other way around?

Some of my sneakers have thriving colonies of bio-organisms. I have too much respect for live to destroy so much of it by washing them. Who knows, maybe there's a newly mutated microbe that will lead to the cure for cancer on there somewhere. . .

Are you implying we're doing any sort of matching at all? I figure any shoe that can be polished can go with any suit. Am I wrong in that assumption?

Actually I play it safe and generally stay away from brown. I've got four pairs of black shoes ranging from casual (comfortable) to formal (medieval torture devices).

I then have about 10 suits in different shades of gray, white shirts and then anything goes on the tie. I wear these for weddings, funerals and the occasional night out to the theater or formal dinner.

For work I wear Docker type pants (In blue, black or gray) and company logo shirts or oxfords.

Very simple and very unfashionable. I make up for my lack of fashion sense with simple, classic good looks that are to die for.

Well, as long as it works. I myself am probably as far from a "typical" female you can find...1 pair of sneakers, 1 pair black shoes, 1 white, 1 Pair of sandles. Thats it. I own 1 dress...all occasion. 2 pairs of "good" pants and I live in jeans and tees.
My husband has more clothes than I do and he wears a uniform at work.

Well I do like him, but I haven't read any of his stuff for a while. If I'm plagiarizing him, I'm not aware of it. I fiugred as long as I stayed away from the booger jokes and exploding whale stories, I wouldn't be stepping on his toes.

Ask him how would he clean "mud" sneakers

Mud generally dries and flakes off. Any residual residue normally get's washed off next good rain.:D

Hey! Maybe I should start one of those advice columns: "Organic Cleaning - The Zen philosophy of being at one with your environment"
