Storybook Circus Discussion

Does anyone know what they are intending on doing with Dumbo? Are they going to keep the one up for now until the dueling set is up and ready or is there a date they have set to take the original down?

The new art does make it all look a little more lush than it did, instead of so bare and dry. Hopefully they will be implementing a lot of the greenery.

Great Goofini?

I did a search and couldn't find anything mentioned on this subject but if there was something I apologize before hand.

Anyway here is my question: Is Goofy's Barnstormer just going to be rethemed or is there plans to lengthen the track or change the layout?

To my understanding, its just a retheme

The Epcot Manifesto
So today while my internet was lagging like crazy trying to watch the Disneyparks blog post video on The Little Mermaid, I was stuck staring at the very beginning part with in the Imagineer's cubicle while the video buffered, forever.

Anyway, I noticed on the wall he had a bunch of pencil sketches that looked like they were designs for stuff in Storybook Circusland.

I'll admit, I'm not the best image editor, so what is here is a simple screenprint and crop using MS Paint. I'm sure that someone out there could do much much more with this, get a better screenshot, enhance the view, etc.

Anyway, here is what I have, one shot regular, one where I made it a negative so I could see the sketches a little better. I can't tell what it is for, most likely if anything, for Casey Jr. Water Play area. Anyway, thought I would share:

I don't understand where the whole circus theme came into play with the expansion. I get the connection between dumbo and the circus but I like disney because it isn't the circus .

The circus theme predates the mine coaster, and would have been there even if the original plan had remained.
They chose curcus because of it being a family-friendly theme and would allow for them to move and double Dumbo. The circus tents are the only offspring of the mine ride. Scrapping the pixie area and keeping the tents helped pay for it.

Would have much rather they scaled back PH and then kept the original idea for Dumboland. The jury is really out on if this is a net plus.

The new artwork looks like some sort of giant Pluto Transformer left a pile of roller coaster right in the middle of the FLE!

The original look of the area between the castle walls and Mermaid was fanciful and escapist Imagineering at its best. The new version looks uninspired, unoriginal and especially unimaginative. Somewhat like the BAH at the Studios, the Nemo show building at DAK or the canopy and car wash cooling station outside Test Track at Epcot.

Hopefully this will get fixed by WDI before construction starts on the "mountain"

And don't even get me started on keeping the Birthdayland tents. :hurl:

I would have to disagree on the mine ride. I think it looks great in the concept art. To me it looks like the track will be integrated into the landscaping so you barely see it. I personally think with will look nice in the middle of Fantasyland.

Now as for the tents, that's another story entirely. ;)

I really dont think that the storybook circus land looks that bad. I mean, it could be a really fun area. However, I am just slightly horrified that it might resemble Chester & Hesters Dinorama. That is a circus-themed area gone bad. I sincerely hope that this "Dumbo Area" is a little more upscale.

Also, what exactly are they going to put in the tents that they are keeping from Mickey's Toontown Fair? Are they just going to be meet n' greet areas like they were before? Besides the double dumbo ride and the great goofini, is Disney going to add anything more to that area?

One is a M&G, the other is retail space. ("Sideshow Souvenirs")
