Storybook Circus Discussion

Like I posted in another thread, the most recent plans I have refer to the two main tents as: "Sideshow Souvineers" and "Storybook Circus Meet and Greet".

The other tents are not on the plans. Those spots are labeled "Confetti Plaza" and "D-Zone". (As always, this stuff could have changed in the last couple of months.)

There is no room back there for a ride. All the backstage area will be used for things such as wardrobe, etc.

The water play area is Casey Jr.

The largest COUNTY BOUNTY tent used to be a show back in the Birthdayland days. A show could go back in here that dumped into the Princess / Fairies meet and greet tent which could be a gift shop.

Blink, blink. Breathe, breathe. Day in, day out.
I think Mr. Toad, Dumbo dark ride or The Mickey Mouse Review could fit in here.

Mr. Toad: Make it themed as if you're walking into a giant book with the entrance being a torn page. The queue line would be decorated with book versions if classic Disney movies.

Dumbo dark ride: It's dumbo themed, ain't it?

Mickey Mouse Review: It plays many songs from Disney movies, it could go along with the circus theme for the "acts".

Is it possible that the reply "it's still a mystery" could be a play on words and that Pete's Sideshow could be a magic show?

I notice the ticket booth is gone from the front, so perhaps the games are gone too.

If not, here's what I'm expecting:
• Country Bounty Tent will remain a gift shop
• The other large tent will be Pete's Silly Sideshow and a Meet and Greet for Donald, Goofy, Pluto, Pete, Chip & Dale, etc.
• There will be a very small quick service food location in a small tent (popcorn, ice cream, pretzels)
• and, most unlikely, a tent with interactive games. Won't happen unless tickets are sold which would be horrible. However, there wouldn't be any way to control crowds otherwise.

The new rendering is a huge upgrade from what we had seen in the past. I would expect things must be pretty close to getting firmed up. My big question: if the tents are in dry rot, why aren't they being replaced?

While the art is better, I still can't help but think the area could be used for something SO much better.

I'm very "MEH" on this whole area. Dont hate it - new renderings do look better. But I would not say this whole circus area really excites me at all.

Path between Circus & Tommorowland

I'd love to see them continue the Circus theme along that little used back path to tomorrowland, definitely room for some midway games and maybe even a screen based shooting gallery.

I hope that the “theme” of a circus-that-just-rolled-into-town isn't an excuse to go cheap like the "theme" of dinorama at DAK: roadside attraction just recently set-up.

Is it just me or does the “new” concept art look scaled back from the previous concept art; especially the entrance. In earlier versions, the entrance to the "land" had a circus tent canopy. Now, it just appears to be a fabric sign- kind of like Chester and Hester’s at DAK.

I agree about the new art looking scaled back! Wasn't there a fountain in the original art!?!

My big question: if the tents are in dry rot, why aren't they being replaced?

Haven't we been told by insiders that the frame of the tents are staying but the coverings will be replaced. This seems to discussed over and over b/c there's some confusion as to what "original tents staying" means.

Yes, it's been mentioned a few times that the coverings would be replaced. It makes sense that this has not been done yet since you would want to wait until later in the construction process so the new coverings don't get damaged.

You said it perfectly, I think thats exactly why they went this route, cheap. Its anything but exciting, but I suppose its an expanded improvement over the conjested toontown fair.

Blegh, the new concept art looks horrid. The Disney version of that 'Seuss Landing' area over at Islands of Adventure, in true Disney fashion done on the cheap.

The one thing I like is the Duleing Dumbo's. The ride has been a capacity disaster for forty years, so it is good this is adressed. Other than that, perhaps I might've liked this new land if I didn't hate circusses with a pasion and didn't suspect all clowns of being paedophiles.

For me it's really no different than Toontown. I typically avoided it unless I had a child with me.

Unless there is some non-Dumbo (i.e. Mickey and Friends) theming around one of the two tents, I can't quite understand why they would have stuck with the Goofy theme for the Barnstormer.

First, you must be 11 years old, because your spelling is uhtroshous.

And then I gathered that your hatred of the Storybook Circus is really your infantile fear and loathing of circuses in general, thereby making your dislike of Disney's attempt biased, irrelevant and moot. Okay, got it. Lame... :ROFLOL:

Come back and post when you turn 15. On second thought, don't even bother then.

the new concept art just appearers to be a different angle with the only change being the entrance, and some different color schemes.

it just looks like in the New angle the big blue tent is blocking the open space in the original concept.
nothing much changed
