Can I just say, as it's on Martin's list.
You guys don't have to believe me...
But the inside of Space?
That track?
It's weld
on top of weld
on top of weld
on top of weld
on top of weld
and i'm constantly amazed it hasn't collapsed or seriously hurt somebody.
I don't know the current condition of Space Mtn. however, that is a pretty serious charge that you are making. My only question is what criteria is in your possession to make such a statement. Are you an engineer? As a cast member are you an imagineer, a bus driver, a person that points out the direction to the restrooms (with two fingers, of course). You speak as if you absolutely know about the weld on top of weld (four fold) and now have expressed that you are amazed that it hasn't collapsed and probably have made people wonder if it is safe to ride it. What is your basis of expertise. BTW, you are not letting me know, because I don't ride SM anyway, but, I'm sure others would like to know if they are taking their lives in their hands by queuing up.

It's pretty well known "something" happened during the morning tests. Google it, you'll probably find some stuff about it.
The track of DLR's literally collapsed one morning as they did pre-ride cycles before guest are allowed into the park. The track just wore out and it collapsed. It was 100% luck on Disney's part that it didn't happen with guests on board.
I always thought they "noticed a major structural issue" during the morning test runs and shut it down. Obviously a collapse would be major but I never knew that's exactly what happened.

Space Mountain at Disneyland didn’t collapse but it was found to be structurally deficient. Disney is lucky that it did not fail with riders either the night before or that morning. Disney knew the structure was failing and had a new track ordered, but they were wrong about how much life remained in the old track.

None of your business with a side I don't care who believes me.
like i said
you don't have to believe me
and i certainly don't have to convince anyone.
@marni1971 just mentioned it, maybe people will believe him.
So you don't know? That is one of the major problems with society today. People say all kinds of outlandish things and it is expected that everyone will believe it. Fine. I guess we can all just spit out stuff that doesn't mean anything and all will be right with the world. Carry on, because I don't care either. Mislead or frighten anyone you feel wants to listen. I just simply asked how you knew that it is close to disaster. We all know that it has some problems, but, if it's that bad, I can't wait to see the lawsuits coming out for it.

And they are catching flack for it by analysts already. Wall Street is beginning to complain that the Cap-Ex spend today won’t have an effective ROI. So really they are seeing pressure on all sides.
Are they really?! They're idiots. Do you have any names or articles? I'd love to read them.

In a nutshell, it's about balancing cap ex because you are anticipating a continuing economic boom with potential to lose bug if said boom doesn't pay out.

Like building five new hotels in anticipation of increasing crowds, when you can't reliably fill the ones you already have.

It's all about crystal balls and doom seers.

I can’t recall if there was an actual collapse or if it would have collapsed during that day. But the ride was closed without notice at park opening. It reopened two years later. With a brand new track.

Didn't something similar happen with Disneyland's Space Mountain?

Edit: I'm not a smart man.
