Stitch still being used for Wake Up calls

I would have thought he would have been off there by now. I really cannot stand that voice in the morning. I miss Mickey saying "Up and at 'em pal! Oh boy are we glad you're here! There's big doings going on so let's get going!"

I really don't like the fact Stitch has been on these calls for quite some time now.

Funny, when we were there in November, my son was excited every morning to hear from Stitch. I know Stitch gets a bad rap around these parts, but he is popular, and the idea that he'd be messing with Mickey in the morning works, if you ask me.

Now, for myself, I'd rather hear from Mickey alone as you've said. That sounds great.

Stitch seems to be a love him/hate him sorta guy, at least insofar as the parks go.

Yea, this is major weak sauce!

I am going the 13th of March with my girlfriend, (who has never been to Disney before) and I was sooo excited to do the wake up call and have her answer it to hear Mickey. However, it doesn't sound like that will be happening now...

That's the one thing I hate about the wake up calls. The absolute LAST person I want to hear that early in the morning is Stitch.

It's actually Stitch and Mickey.

Mickey starts to do the traditional wake up call, then Stitch interrupts him,
and they banter back and forth a bit, if I recall correctly.

As I said, my kids thought it was great, and though I'd prefer just Mickey,
it was pretty clever. I'm sure it's only temporary.

Ok, so Mickey DID do the wake up calls. I thought I was going nuts!
I thought I remembered Mickey doing it, but when we stayed at the Poly in January and were disappointing to have our wake up call be the radio :veryconfu

It's been on for almost three plus years now. I don't call that temporary.

How did they even get the idea for using Stitch????? Why would you get rid of Mickey doing it anyway??

It started when the Lilo and Stitch movie first came out and Disney was going nuts with the promotion of the Stitch character. The idea was that Stitch was very mischievous and was causing all kinds of chaos and wreaking around the parks. This extended to the traditional Mickey wake-up call, which has Mickey getting interrupted in the middle of it by Stitch. They've stopped a lot of the "Stitch is running amok" stuff (save for disguising refurb walls and wet paint with it), but the wake-up call has survived.

They probably came up with the idea, so when you pick up the phone you say WHAT THE HECK is/was that!?! So it gets you up and makes you wonder what just happened!! :ROFLOL:
