Instead of spending 10 million bucks on a kiddie ride let's spend it to upgrade the old timer Space Mountain!!!

It will be cool if we'll ever get the tracks that are used at Paris!!!

Space Mountain does need some serious work...what little story it used to tell w/ the preshow videos is now gone, and the post show doesn't make any sense anymore. If our Space Mountain is older than DLs, and DLs track is falling apart, shouldn't ours need to be replaced soon, too?

Surely people at Disney are smart enough to not panic and stay seated for just a second :lookaroun

One would think so  After what I saw on the Haunted Mansion, it made me realize just how much they need those announcements. While taking one of the last rides of the evening on HM, this group of teens in 3 different vehicles actually started to jump from one "doom buggy" to another as we were circuling madame leota! I couldn't believe it! Now imagine if one of those kids fall between the moving cars and gets hurt. They can sue Disney and win!! Its ridiculous! However, with constant announcements and now signs on all of the ride vehicles to stay seated, it helps stupid people like this from getting money for something dumb they do. If people actually hop from one buggy to another as it is MOVING, I can only imagine people trying to do it on SE when it is stopped.

What do you mean? Maybe I'm just misunderstanding you. As long as Disney doesn't create a machine that sucks out your memories of old rides I will always have my great memories of Alien Encounter

OH NO! Replaced! OY! I guess will be seeing a kiddie ride inside the mountain now! and while they are at it they should add a sign in the ticket both saying " Warning: Park age range 2-10 years old only.":brick:

I think a retheming would suffice. Disneyland's got one a few years ago (I don't know what they are doing to it now), which was very nice--added some eye candy, yet I felt their Space Mountain was even more intense than ours--no need to tone it down, just create a story! It isn't even an E-Ride to me any more...E-Rides need a story...

I will put A save Alien Encounter banner on my webpage. Hopefully it will do better than the Save Horizons campaign.

But anyway. About Spaceship Earth Being a rollercoaster. I believe a rollercoaster could not fit.

I used Rollercoaster Tycoon 2 to find out. So I built I giant 180 foot tall sphere and I ran into problems.

Now if the rollercoaster were to be built, there would be little chance to use the very top of the building. Since, the ride would either need a lift to get up there or a launch and would not have enough energy to go back up. To mazimize the room in the sphere, the track would mainly have to be in the middle and maybe the bottom for the bottom of the hills but since you are so high inside the sphere, there would be a lot of remaining energy when the coaster leaves the sphere, enough for a seperate pavilian.

There is room though for a theatre or a Test Track like attraction since those take up a lot less space and don't rely on gravity.

Spaceship Earth already is a roller coaster:D It's a slow moving, forward and backwards facing, complete-circuit powered roller coaster (technically, Everest won't be the first!).

Well I guess you are right. It certainly is the bumpiest, loudest, and most uncomfortable attraction in Epcot

All they need to do is upgrade with some new ride vehicles and the attraction will be fine. Or make the current ones alot less noisy and put some freakin decent head rests on them for crying out loud

Isn't this the second time Ghostbuster has done this thread resurrection? I forget what the first one was but it was posted within the past week...
