If they are rehabing this ride in just 10 weeks, I am not expecting much...Journey Into Your Imagination took at least a year...

I think it is interesting to hear the closure of AE may be really soon. Why? Well, because when I saw it two days ago the cast members were unusually adamant that people could NOT use videotaping devices anywhere in the show. I didn't even know this was a rule and have seen people video tape the preshow before with no CM's saying anything. This time however they made a big deal out of the fact that no one could video tape it both in announcments in the queue area and before the pre-show and actual show started. I don't know why, especially if it is closing soon and the only way to preserve it is for someone to tape it. Anyone know why we can't tape it (I had actually wanted to video it because of the Stitch redo rumors, but ,alas, had run out of tape by the time I rode AE)

I was told by CM's that the reason for the strict videotaping rule was because of George Lucas' involvement. The guy said that they can lose their jobs if many people videotape it on their watch (Didn't know it was that big of a deal or if that would even happen). I can sorta see how this could be true because Lucas is strict on his stuff.

Here'a my issue with AE and would somewhat welcome Stitch...AE has no entertaining storyline. AE isn't a themed attraction, it's a thrill attraction. The whole idea is to be surprised by the escape of the alien monster. How many times can you be surprised by that? The imagineers really need to be set loose in AE and develop a decent story.

While I respect your opinion, I believe that AE has the single best story in the Magic Kingdom. There's a whole lot more to it that just "to be surprised be the escape of the alien monster".

There is a company from a very far off land run by "people" with much higher intelligence that us "humans". And they are going to try to cash in on our stupidy (in their minds). Notice how the audience is sort of being talked down to by the whole X-S Staff. You can tell no matter what Clench and S.I.R. say that their only reason for being here is to make a whole bunch of money. And as Spinlock wants to do later on their whole goal is to "put sales before science". But they are selling us a rushed together, flawed product. And because they are so egar to try to sell something to us they send an alien to our chamber instead of Clench. And then what you say could be taken as somewhat true. Now I know I left out alot of parts but I did this just to show of much of a storyline the attraction has.

And I don't mean to offend anyone else here but at least AE actually has a storyline unlike Pirates of the Caribbean and The Haunted Mansion. I mean even the makes of the POTC movie said how they had to make a story out of an attraction without a real story. And I don't want anybody to think that I'm "dissing" these attractions. I was just simply saying that these classic attractions do not have true storylines so even if AE didn't have a story at all it shouldn't be held against it.

And another thing Tigger Boing, please don't take this as a flame against you. I was just trying to make you see that even if you don't pick up on it, there is a great back story in AE.

Let's cross our fingers...remember - the plans have been "delayed..."

...perhaps they can stock up on some cash and pull out a new classic ride-through AA classic. Wouldn't that be utterly fabulous?

I have an idea... we have seen that people from outside this website also have info about our disscussions so.... It's a long shot but maybe we could make a list of all the people who don't want AE changed (including me!!!). It's a long shot but it's the only way I see the rehab being delayed... and I don't think AE will close in the next month, reason: official announcment about future projects will be 10/8-10 while M:S officialy opens.... Lets cross our fingers for good news only!!!

I've got a feeling that the list would be much longer than Disney would expect. I think the attraction has really gotten a new life ever since the rumors have become more serious. I can tell by how many people actually seem to want it to stay and the increased attendence at the attraction. But like you said it is a long shot.

Urrrrr!!!! It makes me so mad to hear AE leave. It's one of THE best at MK(Pirates and HM beat it) and now they're going to revamp to make it some cheesy little kiddie ride. Do you think they'll still have the stuff about X-S Tech,or will we be seeing a whole new thing?

I was reading on a local news web page, (orlando) something on SE (time Races) to be open on 2007 for epcots 25th anivarsary... BUt it never talked about a rollercoaster...

''sources said the company will most likely build a moving theater-type ride in Spaceship Earth to handle up to 2,400 park patrons per hour.''

Where did the rollercoaster com into pic?

Grizz. You know aynything about time races being a theater? or is this old??:veryconfu

That's the whole reason for the change. Little kids, that were not even supposed to be in there, got scared. Otherwise why in the world would they replace AE. It's still about as popular as a show can be. And every CM I've talked to has said how disapointing this will be when they take out alot of the great (scary) effects.

And of course Disney wouldn't replace those attractions you said. They can still sell videos and merchandise on those attractions. That's what it's all about. They are getting ready to release a few direct to DVD Stitch sequals so they have to have an attraction to market them.

A rollercoaster never really came into "pic." This isn't happening. :)

Time Racers is the POSTSHOW to the Spaceship Earth 2005-designed ride. The new Spaceship Earth ride itself would use screen-technology.

Like I said, this is on hold. :)

That's kinda how I feel now. I mean I still will go with the family and everything but it won't be the same. AE was really something I looked forward to. And other than Splash and Space there really isn't anything left in the MK that excites me anymore.
Sure I like POTC, Jungle Cruise, Country Bears, etc.. but really anything else isn't that big of a deal to me anymore. On our last trip I didn't even set foot in Fantasyland or Toontown Fair. But oh well I guess Disney feels they need more stuff for kids in the MK :hammer:

There is more to it than the ride itself!!! Instead of "Tomorrowland" we will start getting a fantasy land of alien characters!!! What's tomorrow in that idea?
