There is more to it than the ride itself!!! Instead of "Tomorrowland" we will start getting a fantasy land of alien characters!!! What's tomorrow in that idea?

It's happened before: Buzz Lightyear...

At least we still have attractions in Tomorrowland...I'll take this over Disneyland's NEW Tomorrowland any day...let's not give up on this new ride before it even opens. People tried to do this to Mission: SPACE when it was announced that it would replace Horizons...I'd like to think that after 50 years, Disney knows what it is doing, and with the number of amazing new attractions currently under construction, I'm not too worried about this new attraction not getting ample funding, even though I don't think 10 weeks is nearly long enough to make any major changes...we'll just have to wait and see.

But you forget the failing tiki room, Dino Rama, Disney studios paris, cheap ride for 100 years of magic (Aladdin ride). and to some peoples opinion DCA isn't something either...

EDIT: they are forcing it to be a fantasyland kiddie ride when it's supposed to be scary!!! This already ruins half of it!!!

I respect your opinion but remember that overall these things were total flops (guest opinions)!!! This would actually seem like a good idea if to be put in fantasyland (could work if the mermaid lagoon won't come) but part the fact he's an alien he doesn't belong in the tomorrow section....

P.S.- We'll have to wait and see about the other attractions you mentioned... Who knows how they will be?

But I respect your opinion...................

Ah, but these are not open. If we can't judge Stitch, how can we judge these? :animwink:

Very good point!!!

Why spend $10 million on something that is already popular

But, is it popular? I've never had to wait for it...not that I ever would wait more than 10 minutes for it...

Well just think how many people are in the building. There are two preshows and two chambers worth of people in there. And if you want to count all of the people in the wait area to go into the building. So I don't know how many people are in there at one time but it is a pretty good number. And just think of what other shows actually have waits? (Not counting night time shows or fireworks). You could say Voyage of the Little Mermaid but the only reason for the wait there is there is only one stage and there aren't even as close to as many performances in a day. Festival of the Lion King doesn't draw the crowds it used to. We walked in every time we've saw it since the 98 year. And trust me after the newness wears off of the Stitch show there won't be any lines for it either. The theater just holds alot of people.

And for the record the first two years of operation AE had 45 min waits all day long. And I waited for 30 minutes the first time was saw it the last trip. And ever since the Stitch rumors started, AE has gained alot of popularity. I think alot of people did what I did and took the attraction for granted and thought it would be there for a very long time. So there was no need to see it more than a couple of times on a trip. I think you can tell by these message boards that AE is alot more popular than even I originally thought.

This was true especially my last trip (July 2003). Even though most people STILL have no clue on what they are getting in line for (My gosh there are signs and warnings for crying out loud :hammer: ) they seem to line up for it. And even though everybody knows my position on the ride, I swear to you I saw more smiles and giggles coming out of the exit this time. The little merchandise stand at Merchant of Venus of AE stuff would get mobbed by young boys coming out (I even saw some little girls but there wasn't enough to say they mobbed the stand, they mostly picked up the cute Skippy dolls  ). So whether or not the rumors have anything to do with it the crowds for AE have gotten larger recently as opposed to the past 3 years or so where you could walk on most of the day.

Why spend money on something thats doing rather well? I bet there other rides in MK that are doing worse than AE... ( not that AE is doing bad)
This es me off... I guess Space mountain and Splash Mountain are next to be replaced by Mr. Toads Wild Ride, and It's a small World...:hurl:

As I've mentioned before, AE isn't an attraction I like, but that doesn't mean it doesn't have a big fan club. I'm willing to wait and see what happens, reserving judgment until then.

Spaceship Earth, however, is an all-time favorite with my family - I'm so glad it's going to remain "as-is" for the time being (and hopefully forever!):)

Well, say what you will. To each his own. I've never waited in a line for Alien Encounter...I've never liked the attraction either. I'm sure Disney has a reason for changing it, just like when they removed other assorted attractions I also didn't like--Mr. Toad's Wild Ride, Horizons, World of Motion, the keelboats...maybe my notes to Eisner are working, who knows?

Even though it would seem that Splash and Space are safe for now  After all this about Alien Encounter I swear I would not be shocked one single bit if they decided to replace Splash Mountain or Space Mountain anymore. To me, at least, no attraction at the MK is safe. Especially ones that cater to the 13-29 demographic. Hey they can't sell DVD's or VHS tapes of Song of the South so you know Splash Mountain's days are numbered

Agreed...I would be very angry if they took out the serious atmosphere, amazing theming, and INCREDIBLE music in this attraction...I cannot get over the music...while change can be good, I would never want to overall atmosphere of Spaceship Earth to change...it was my first and last ride of this trip (rode it before I met Patrick, and it was our last ride before I had my nightmare of a trip "home"--I would argue I was leaving home)...I just wish they would take that obnoxious girl at the end out--she ruins the calm feel of the entire ride "MAY I HAVE YOUR ATTENTION PLEASE!"...ugh. Then there are the monitors at the beginning...I prefer the way it was, with the echoes of the past...much kewler...

You know, with all the talk about EVEREST being the first complete circuit coaster to go forwards and backwards, Spaceship Earth is TECHNICALLY a slow-moving, powered roller coaster that goes forward and backwards. It runs along a roller coaster track, and has roller coaster wheels both above and below the track, so shouldn't it be the first roller coaster in the world to go forwards and backwards?

I wish they wouldn't freakin blare out the "Attention Please Remain In Your Seat" spiel EVERY TIME the cars slow down or stop for a second. There is no problem whatsoever with slowing or stopping it to accomidate the handicapped but my gosh if it is stopped for 10 seconds you'll hear the spiel 5 times. Surely people at Disney are smart enough to not panic and stay seated for just a second :lookaroun

Nothing ruins a great trip to SSE like 5 minutes worth of attention spiels (And yes the New Global Neighbor Hood voice lady gets annoying really quick and the screens added at the begining are the stupidest things I've ever seen)

hey everyone
im a huge disney world. ive finally found a good disney world rumor message board. it seems that you guys know what you're talking about which is good. i am a HUGE fan of AE and i currently have an utter hatred to the furry piece of crap. i definately support the petition idea, even though i know its a long shot (didnt work for mr toad, probably wont work now). id be ok if they ADDED stitch to the CURRENT show without taking out the show they have now, but that wont happen (i could see stitch being part of the preshow with my bud skippy). anyways, its good to be here.

Welcome to the boards! And yes I know exactly what you mean. My hatred for Stitch has grown by leaps and bounds over the past few months  It made me sick to see his merchandise next to the AE stuff at the Merchant of Venus. But oh well. Disney can never take away the great memories I have of AE.
