Stitch attracting a redo?

Is the building even big enough for any sort of ride? It seems like whatever goes in that spot would have to use the same circular theater setup.

You're lucky not remembering what it was like. I saw it once or twice back in the 70's and it was dull then so I could only imagine how it would be received now. Anyway, lets hope for a major overhaul but I doubt if it will happen until FLE is finished at the very least.

You're so right. As a kid of the late 70's and 80's, Tomorrowland was painfully boring and Mission to Mars was terrible. It was so out of date and not in some type of cool retro way. Alien Encounter was a truly original concept and quite cool and what's left of it is absolutely horrible in Stitch's Great Escape. It would be nice if they could come up with a new, original concept without a tie-in.

I'd like to know this as well. SGE is probably the only WDW ride I haven't ridden. Due to the bad comments and the YouTube videos I've seen, I avoid it like the plague.

There wouldn't be anything I'd like more at MK than to see this attraction be replaced.

I do remember Mission to Mars from day one at MK. It was un-exciting.... The theatre is the exact same configuration that's been re-hashed over and over.... They need to gut and start over...

It's a similiar story to Buzz Lightyear Space Ranger Spin. It's the same space/configuration as the old Delta flight ride, but they did a good job re-using the space, so that worked out and is very popular....

While they're at it, could somebody burn down the Wheel of Progress??? It's WAY LAME and smells damp/dingy... :hurl:

There's nothing you'd like more at the MK than to see an attraction that you've never experienced close?

The building that Stitch is in could probably hold a ride about the same size as Buzz (especially if they were willing to give up one of the shops).

Ignohippo, go see SGE anyway. Do not let what other people say dictate whether or not you go to it. Go see it for yourself and form your own opinions.

i think that this ride need the tiki room treatment. It needs to go back to alien encounter. Because that was one of my favorite rides, ever.

Get rid of stitch please, please, please.

I have to agree with some previous posts, magic kingdom does need more new rides and out with some of the old. Tomorrow land looks like Pixar land which Erks me alot. Hopefully down the road they can change things up a little.

I don't expect an Alien Encounter return obviously, but at this point a meet and greet would be an upgrade. It's hard to believe the attraction has lasted this long, but because it helps sell plush, it probably won't be going anywhere anytime soon.

Whoa! Whoa! Whoa!! Give up one of the shops?!?!? (what I imagine happening in a meeting between imagineers and disney execs after the imagineers have shown them a super cool ride idea that would require a shop to be closed).

We rode SGE last time we were there. Truth be told, it's not horrible. It's not great and definitely a ride I could skip. But, it's not terrible. For some reason, Disney has put a lot of energy into Lilo and Stitch and I think it's because the tropical theme of the characters works well with the Polynesian character breakfast which they make bank on.

I don't think many kids of this generation even know who the characters are until they get to Disney and are basically forced to meet them because they are all over the place.

I'd like to see them re-do that ride. And, I'd like for them to get rid of the circular theatre aspect. There is already a theatre show in Tomorrowland (COP) and I don't think there needs to be more than one in any land. I'd like for them to put in like a simulator-type ride (like the old star wars - and I'm saying this because I have not yet ridden the new star wars, so I'm not sure what it's like?). I'm not sure if it'd fit in the space, but with that design you could continually change up the ride to incorporate new characters and movies. I know it's not exciting, but, hey, at least it's a ride??

If you are referring to the CAROUSEL of Progress, then you can just forget it. That ride is a true CLASSIC, it's got Walt's influence all over it and if it were to go you'd have a lot of upset folks. SGE is just a bad attraction, COP is an old attraction, but not bad.

I would be ALL FOR THIS! Stitch's Great Escape is probably my least favorite attraction, for lack of story and just the fact that it is pretty gross and unenjoyable. So, I would love for them to replace this with a NEW attraction. I'm not saying update Tomorrowland to make the whole land completely futuristic, because I've accepted the whole "classic/retro future" theme. But imagine if there was an actual ride where you could go to space! Or something with Wall-E!!

Agreed!! I've always hated SGE because the idea of an alien spitting all over me is just gross. It has always seemed lees-Disney and more Universal...:hurl:
