Barnum,
Just 'cause I cut you off on your mammary thread, you have to resort to this?

And since when have you focused on arms?, and who does Rob know at Adventurers Club?

Anyway, now back to topic...
I've come to the resolve that anyone here that is truly sharing their opinions and convictions is going to be flagged periodically. With the rare exception of the few "saints" like wannabebelle, we're not being ourselves if we don't put ourselves in this position.

Contrary to those who don't think we should complain about getting reds, I think our reasons for being upset are either 1) we really didn't want to offend and are embarrassed/concerned that we did (and would like to know why) or 2) that some cowardly prima donna jerk has to lurk around in the dark rather than publicly voice their concern/displeasure.

Mickey and John Smith are NOT the same performer. They never have been and never will be.

And that is the first clarification for the misinformation presented in this thread. If you're going to offer to answer question, offer correct answers.

In spite of the fact that Rob is correct on this, and that the self proclaimed "expert" has made some bizarre claims (that even me as a non expert knows are hooie), and has chosen to p*ss off a number of well intentioned posters...Rob is one of the ones who has called him to task so will probably get the red.... In some ways, I'm surprised Rob and others have let this misdirected thread ramble as long as it has before stepping on it, but possibly he, as I, was hoping for some sense to come out of it rather than sinking lower and lower into absurdity. :brick: :zipit: :lookaroun

Nobody is safe from getting bad rep, even people like Belle. Abstaining from giving any strong opinions is not enough to protect you so if you have something to say, you might as well say it. As with everything else, people will abuse the system. As a certain wise webmaster once pointed out to me, a deduction here or there is not likely to make a difference in the long run.

That being said, those little red boxes can still be hurtful to us sensitive folk when given without good reason.

Yep, it's a shame, but that's probably going to cause a red dot or two on Rob's rep count, but I don't think he will have to worry!! :)

That thread kinda fell apart and I'm afraid I may have contributed to the demise. Unfortunately, I disagreed on something and was called out. You can't agree all the time! :)

I just feel like the whole thing is a popularity contest. I'm not able to be on the boards as often as I'd like to be - cause even when I am, I'm being bad 'cause I'm supposed to be working! So I'll be gone from the boards for a couple weeks, come back, and see that lots of people have 2 or more green blocks. I still have just 1. I kinda feel like the nerd showing up at a party thrown by the cool kids.

I know just how you feel. Some days, I feel like I'll never have more than one box! Oh well, I never was popular in school and I still don't really have many friends. A couple of real friends and a lot of acquaintances from like work or something. Kids at school used to call me by saying "Hey smart girl..." so I guess I really have always been a nerd.

You really shouldn't feel that way...most of us are long past high school and have no desire to go back! You should just post your two cents and not worry about rep. You never know what might catch someones eye or make them stop and think. By the way I sent a little green your way, from one nerd to another!!:p

I totally agree! I honestly don't think about it too much and I don't dwell on it. I definately don't want to relive high school. But when I read threads like this (and I'm not blaming the thread!) it makes me think. I'm actually comforted by reading this thread and realizing others are having the same complaints that I do. I too have had a negative point and it was for something totally ridiculous!

Personally, I don't feel like I'm in a position to judge anyone. To me, it implies that I'm better than others. I know better. I'm just as good as everyone else - not better - not worse. I like hearing others opinions on things and getting different points of view... and giving my own. I do like giving encouragement and dishing out some of the green though!

Right back at ya with the green! NERDS UNITE!!
