Starting to get excited for trip

We leave for WDW in 13 days. Usually, at this point, I am so excited. Unfortunately, 3 weeks ago, I had a miscarriage (at 12 weeks.) At first, I wanted to cancel the trip, but we have two children that are really excited. So, we are going. I realized today we'll be at WDW in two weeks from today and I got excited. I am looking forward to getting away and regrouping. A little magic and pixie dust won't hurt either!

Aww! I'm so sorry. DW went through this about 12 years ago. We had someone watch our older DD and went on a long weekend trip to the sea and it really helped her to get away. So maybe going on the trip after all would be a good thing. And I can't think of a better place to get away to!

We had the EXACT same thing happen last summer. I missed and was very withdrawn and didn't even speak to anyone for a month (all of July). Well, a couple of weeks later was our Disney trip and I got excited for that and had a blast. It was JUST what I needed and I am sure it will be the same for you.:)

We were very excited about flipping the page on our calendar tonight, only 12 days to go!

I'm glad you decided to still go, it should help. I know someone that has had 3 miscarriages in a year. She's going to WDW soon too, she was just telling me that she booked herself a message while she's there too.

I miscarried in August of 2001, so my husband and I decided the best therapy was a trip to WDW that October. We booked our flights on September 10, 2001 (interesting timing, don't ya think?!?! And I hate to fly!!!!!) Yeah, that trip TOTALLY took my mind off of the miscarriage. And, ironically enough, got pregnant with our daughter on that trip!!!

So a trip to Disney might be the perfect thing to do at this point. Have fun!

I am sorry for for your loss, as well as everybody else has had the same thing happen to them. But overall, your choice to go to WDW will bring many more memories to your lives, and it has been proven by some here. I hope you enjoy your trip with your family, it will be the best medicine.

My adult sister died of leukemia in August and I went on a trip to Disney with my two nieces, in their 20's, in October. People thought we would be upset all the time there, but my sis loved Disney and I went on many trips with her through the years, as well as her trips with her own family. Instead of crying all the time, we laughed so much and remembered all magical times we had together. I'm so sorry for your loss. But it is good that you are going for the rest of your family, and you might be surprised at how the Disney magic is very healing.

Thanks everyone! Thank you very much for sharing your stories, too. I really appreciate it. We're looking forward to doing a couple of things we've never done before at WDW like the Family Tour at MK and the Waterparks (although after reading another thread on here I am a little nervous about the sanitary aspect of this choice :lookaroun)

Thanks again

Hope you have a wonderful time on your trip. I am sorry for your loss. You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers. Hopefully the WDW magic will help you let go of everything on the outside world and just kick back and enjoy some awesome and relaxing family time.

People to this day ask me why my twin sister and I (who are going to be 24) still travel w/ my parents, esp to WDW ('a children's place' <---looks like someone has never visited the mouse!!:p)). I tell them its b/c of the memories! I may not have this someday, so I will enjoy it every minute I can while I am able!!

Thought I'd give you all an update. Unfortunately, my father in law passed away during our trip  After a few phone calls, WDW Travel refunded us our unused hotel nights and a portion of our dining plan. We are going back in November through the bounceback offer. The last 5 weeks has been horible. We are looking forward to an uneventful fall!

Please accept my sympathy for your family's loss.

Oh, brother. It never rains it pours. I'm so sorry you've had such a bad 5 weeks.

I'll keep you in my thoughts and prayers. Hope things pick up.

Wow, sorry to hear about your difficult times. Hopefully your trip will help to ease the pain. We too went through the miscarriage thing this year. Just booked a trip for Nov/Dec though.

*Toast* Here's to everyone having a great time on holiday this year.

My story is not as sad as a miscarriage, but 2 weeks before our Disney trip in 2002, we lost everything in a house fire (dad cooked!) We were all set to cancel, but an aunt who was going with us, told us to go & forget everything until we got back from the trip. We got what little we could out of the carnage (fortunately, our suitcases with our disney clothes already packed were not damaged at all!) I took that as a sign. We went, had an awesome time, and were able to refocus on our situation with a clear head when we got back.
