Start Dieting for WDW trip PART II

First of all, I'd like to thank those supporters last year and would like anybody who wants to join me to keep updates too.

Last year I started at 193 I believe and planned on losing 15 pounds. I actually lost 23 for my trip and gained NONE of it back on the trip. I've been around 170-180 for the past 6-7 months. I've gone up another 10 to 190 this last months. We've had a family tragedy and we have been getting lots of food from family and friends. Thanks to all of them, but it's time to get back to work!

Today -- 162 days out (hey that's a whole baseball season) I am at 190. My goal is to get back to the college days at 150. So that's 40 pounds in 5.5 months. That still breaks down to less than 2 pounds a week. Anything more than a goal if 2 pounds a week can be dangerous.

I started today with an apple for breakfast and trail mix for lunch. Dinners will have to be moderated and NO MORE DESSERT OR OVERNIGHT SNACKING. I'm sure since the first 10 went on fairly quick they may come off in the first month -- but then the real grind starts.

If anybody else wants to join me, I'll do updates Wednesdays and post them for everybody. Just IM me. I am very serious about this and it's time to hit the treadmill. Dieting without exercise is easy, but to make a healthy heart, you need to make your full body healthy, not just your waistline. I'm starting with a Mile run tonight and will try to build up to 3 miles by the end of the month as well. What happened to those days when I could do a 10K effortlessly? Oh, and tonight is pasta night at Olive Garden. To-Go boxes are our friends.

Jimbo - Day 1 - 190

PS, sorry about slacking off last year and not updating after the trip, will do better this year.

Weighed in this morning and lost 1.5 lbs. Not as much as my previous losses but still in the right direction. Congrats to everyone else and keep it up. I still need to kick up the cardio a little.

Well I'm now done 67 lbs and still have 2 1/2 motnths before our trip. My origianl goal was 60-70 lbs and now I'm thinking 80 lbs. So far I've dropped from a size 54 pant and now I'm in a 40-42....big changes thats for sure.

I wish everyone else good luck as I certainly know it's not easy but I can say that this thread has helped me to continue to work hard at it.

Thanks to everyone.

Tuesday morning weigh-in time! First of all, I hope everyone had a great Memorial Day weekend. It's always hard to diet during a holiday weekend, esp when there's a lot of cooking out. Anyway, I'm down another 2lbs. for a total loss of 23lbs since April 16th. Good luck to everyone on this thread and keep up the good work.

Later,
Tim

I finally lost another pound! So now I'm down 3. I'm just trying to have a healthier lifestyle, so it is a pretty slow road.

Keep it up! It will pay off. you don't want to loose a whole bunch of weight over night. (It's just water weight then) Slowly is the best way to keep it off, just don't get discouraged about it!:)

Down 19.2 according to WW meeting last night - I've been going for 16 weeks - kind of embarassing - like a pound a week - which shows that I haven't exactly been "on plan" all the time, but reading the post above makes me feel better. I've really had a hard time motivating myself. Usually knowing I'm going to the "World" makes me ready to get going, but for some reason, I'm having a hard time this time. Usually, I haven't had as much time - going in Sept. (along with all the other free diners) so in the back of my mind I keep thinking I have LOTS of time.

But on another note, I am losing, so I'll still be less but I really wanted to lose around 40 pounds before vacation. If I would just really get on the program, I know I could do it. Just having trouble really getting motivated.

Anyone else in this place? Any suggestions?

So, how are you guys doing with this?

I took a week-long vacation and gained about 8 pounds. In the last few days, I've lost about 2.5 of those. So, I'm sitting at about 186 with a goal of 170. With my DIS trip 'only' 8 weeks away, it doesn't look like I'll quite make the goal before the trip, but I AM back on the wagon now and would like to at least lose 10 pounds before my trip...

I'm getting Lap-Band surgery 2 weeks AFTER my WDW trip so I'm not even trying to lose weight right now. I'm enjoying my last few months of eating whatever I want.

Good luck to everyone else though!!

Awesome...
For me, it is as I expected: these last 15-20 pounds are the toughest. I lost about 40-50 pounds in 5 months, but the rest has been extremely slow going... Still, I can look at some old pictures and know that I do NOT want to go back there. So, I guess I'll keep trying to hit the gym and laying off of the cobbler and ice cream...

I'm not going by the actual weight itself. I'm going by dress size. I've been back on track, been losing weight, and almost down a size. Just a ways to go. I'm trying to get at least a size 12 by December.

I am just seeing this thread for the first time. I was wondering if its not to late to join the club. I am going down December 8th and would love to lose at least 20lbs by then. I think this is a great idea to have support! From what I have read so far it seems like you guys are doing a great job!

Thank you for the encouragement! I have recently slipped a little and gained a few back. But I am now going again with renewed enthusiasm. It is easy to get discouraged, I just have to learn to not let it rule my life. I seem to do better when I am not so worried about it.
