Obama seems to have extra time, maybe he can help. It's really time for some Urban Renewal in DTD.
The West Side "Ghetto" and the Pleasure Island "Midtown" need some economic stimulus.

What a load of garbage.
AC's closing has nothing to do with stores closing in Disneys West Side.
It's the economy..no one is spending money...well except my wife.
No.Do ghost towns have sheriffs?
Agree. Think another pin shop will do the trick? :lookaroun:lol:It's really time for some Urban Renewal in DTD.

nah, needs another DVC kiosk... there can never be enough DVC kiosks in Down Town...:lookaroun
No.
I shot the sheriff.
(But I did not shoot the deputy.)
From what I would like to see go (from most to least):AC...Virgin...Starbilias...what's next? Magic Shop?
I really think that stores like Starabilias are almost counting on customers not really knowing the actual worth of the merchandise. It's nice, I have it right here, anyone wanna give me $675.00 for it?
Real movie props are a really weird thing. They generally cost next to nothing to make but unless you know someone in the biz paying a super inflated price is typically the only way to get a hold of these items. It all comes down to how bad you want it. You know what they say..."A fool and his money are easily parted"I will miss this one thing about that store.
When it first opened, (80's?, 90's?) they had a piece of "Gold Pressed Latinum"
from the Star Trek TV series there, for something like $675.00.
I was there last year, and it is/was still there.
The thing is, I have one of those . . an acquaintance had worked
in the prop shop for the show and had poured hundreds of those
for the show and to give away to friends. They're made of about
2 cents worth of plastic spray painted gold.

I will miss visiting it when I'm there next. Sorta. Kinda.
I have a hard time getting broken up about any sort of store closing.
Attractions, yes . . . but these are just stores. Shopping, big whoop.
I agree. I remember how unusual it was for a prop, (perhaps among others thrown away at Hollywood) to be worth that much.I really think that stores like Starabilias are almost counting on customers not really knowing the actual worth of the merchandise.I mean, sure, signatures from early presidents, Houdini, etc....that stuff is worth a fortune.
But Voldemort's wand? $19,000? Surely not. I think they must be counting on unacknowledged guests making impulse purchases based on emotion.
Also, they are marking stuff way up for the presentation framing. Some of that frame work must be in the $500 range.
