Except those final days, of course...

I do agree. $18 for USA license plates? What do they have to do with everything else from the store?

D23: The Store? :lookaroun

Like!

They are going to build a house in the convention center where D23 is being held. It will be filled with Disney products. D23 will have an ever growing line of collectibles. So, I think you have a great idea. DTD can and should be a mecca for all things Disney.

Already got one.
It's called Sid Cahuenga's at DHS.:D
True.

But at least most of them were/are reasonably priced.

OT: Is that D'i'ck Van jacket for $65,000 the real thing or a replica?

I think it should belong in the Walt Disney Archives instead of selling it...

I was talking more about an all Disney, all the time shop. Kinda like Sids but more current with the pop star memorabilia of the day. For instance signed movie posters for PatF or animation cells signed by the artists.

I won't miss it. I think they should go to City Walk. Seems like a better fit for Universal.

Disney can do better. Perhaps opening their own version.
Unfortunately, City Walk is turning pretty decent profits right now, opening new, and sometimes unique locations, and keeping their other spaces occupied.

Ehh....Sid's has signed posters from many new Disney features now, and signed cells are easily found both there and over at the shop in Animation Courtyard.
Actually, Sid's was better 10 years ago. Newer, cooler stuff. Less random clothing from d-list celebs.
Starbilia's was great....just way overpriced. Slight change to their business model, ease up on the mark-up, and they would have done much better.

Sid's is still one of the shops I most enjoy at WDW, easily best at Studios.
Even if I wish they would drop Kin Shriner's (actor on General Hospital who went to high school with a pal of mine) hideous blue/aqua blazer that they've had there for more than five years now.

They were doing quite a bit of business on Michael Jackson/Jackson 5 items when I was there recently. CM told me they sold out of everything in a day, but then got in more items (likely they have stuff constantly warehoused). I asked if they raised the prices and she sheepishly said that the other items were less expensive and that the new stuff was deemed 'more valuable' ... yeah, more valuable because he died and they saw a way to push the margins of that shop up very quickly.

It's so nice to see a shop themed to Hollywood and the movie industry and NOT Disney, even though many items are Disney.

Hopefully, it'll stay that way and not be turned into a pinshack or plush shop or High School Musical outlet.

That's the problem. Disney doesn't do it better anymore. They outsource everything, which means they are no better and in this case, worse than universal. In fact, had they actually planned an entire district like citywalk, PI might very well be open and shops would not be closing left and right.

Maybe when they stop making knee jerk reactions and plan for the future, they will fix this mess. Until then it's a lost cause

Oy. :brick:

Don't remind me of their marketing strategies. I love Disney and everything related, but to HSM: :fork:

I applaud their acting skills, but Disney has been trying to squeeze the life from HSM by plastering them everywhere.

Really annoying now.

Same for Camp Rock and the Jonas Brothers.

And note they're trying to juice Demi Lovato now as the next Hannah Montana. Just sad to keep the trend going.

Fortunately, I am fine with pin shops. :)

But not everywhere you go, in the most random and unfitting places, and if the pins & pin trading are better quality from 5 years ago than now. Seriously. I used to be a big pin fan and trader, but they have downgraded so much, well, we stopped completely.

I also hate where Disney has gone cheap in what it sells and how they sell, but that's another rant....:lol:
