I dropped a 50's Prime Time ADR to try this.

For me, that would be based on the premise I can actually get the ADR.

Is Rebel Hangar an upcharge event, or just a temporary table service restaurant within a quick service which is why it needs reservations?

It's a dining ADR ordering the equivalent of small plates.

The event will only be during SWW which is the last 2 weekends of May and first 3 of June. It is also only available on Friday, Saturday and Sunday making the other 4 days of the week blacked out by default. If there are Friday, Saturday and Sunday dates blacked out during SWW, it is most likely because they are booked solid.

FYI for beer drinkers...speculation is that the Alderaan Ale at the Rebel Hanger will be the Safari Amber/Reef Amber/Rix Red renamed.

Makes sense. They've got it. It's a WDW exclusive. And a quick Google search for Star Wars beer doesn't yield a large enough brewery with a current product that could probably supply the demand (or the palate).

I was checking some dates and it appears it may already be all sold out. They may be opening up some more dates because I noticed the first week there are some dates not grayed out (still no availability).

For Prices it appears it will be tapas style with prices ranging from 5.99 to 16.99

They are closing just the side closest to the JTA stage for the Rebel Hangar. So the rest of the restaurant will operate as normal
