Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance

My wife and I are planning to go opening day, but not sure yet what time. We went to opening day of Galaxy’s Edge in the afternoon and it wasn’t busy and the wait for Smugglers Run wasn’t bad at all. I would go in the afternoon again, but I’m worried that the ride may be down by then, lol.

We’re also thinking of going Wednesday night to see if we can see the X-wing drone from a distance. Is it known what time the opening ceremony is?

I wish we could go on opening day but we cant afford another disney trip. Not until at least 2021 or later. I will watch all of the videos of the ride! I hope everyone will have fun! :)

But remember, the opening of SWGE was a huge success ;)

I think we can assume the opening of ROTR won’t repeat that embarrassing disaster.
Can you explain how the opening of GE was an “embarrassing disaster?” Last I checked, long lines and extreme crowds are things that lead to low guest satisfaction. Cantina and Lightsaber reservations were consistently booked for months. I’m sure if Falcon had FP it would be totally booked and stand-by would be much long.

As far as I’m concerned, the opening of Hagrid’s at Uni was much more of a disaster. Ridiculously long lines and a ton of downtime.

I would not consider Hagrid a failure. Pretty much everyone loves the ride. Universal underestimated how popular it was going to be. Galaxy's Edge is not a failure in my book, but there are some disappointing things about the land. It has the potential to be fantastic. Watching footage from Rise it looks amazing! The ride will really help the land.

Of course it's not, but neither is Galaxy's Edge like you say. Some posters seem to delight in just posting stuff to rile others. For instance if you went on the Hagrids thread complaining about the poor people who queued for 6 hours and were then told "Sorry but the ride won't be back on today" there'd be people saying that was ok. Had that happened when Galaxy's Edge opened, the same people would have been saying what a disgrace it was.

I never stated Galaxy's Edge was a failure. I really liked it! It has it's flaws though as I stated in my original post.

Nobody does - Disney dreams of having such a “failure” as Hagrid’s. Just stand at the exit of Hagrid’s and MFSR and the buzz and excitement difference is palpable. One continues to have crazy FOMO and one, well, not so much.

But hey, Disney didn’t have any extended downtime so those small crowds didn’t have to wait long... um, yay? Like the opening of DCA, no lines for Superstar Limo and Golden Dreams!!!

Hundreds of millions well spent indeed. ;)

I mean it's hard to tell. I got off Smugglers run and I was impressed about being in the falcon but overall it was kinda lame. But this young boy behind my family was estatic and wanted to go ride it again. Hagrid was a fantastic coaster, but a couple behind thought it was over too fast. In my opinion I think the general public like Galaxy's Edge but expect more. I think having Rise open this week will really help it.

Same. I’ll probably just go in the afternoon to avoid the early morning headache.

The difference is Hagrid's can get better and more reliable. Unless there's a major change, MF ride will always be meh
