Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance

Yep, which is also embarrassing. I think the Yeti was likely a harder/more expensive fix than the cannons, though.

Expedition Everest has the benefit of being a thrill ride so people don't care as much about the broken effects, but it's not close to the ride it was intended to be when you see how much is broken/missing.
The other big problem is that the movement of the vehicles in the gun section make it clear what SHOULD be happening. In EE, without knowing the whole story, nothing in the ride indicates that the Yeti ever moved.

Where they are similar is their place in the ride's narrative. The Yeti is EE's climax, while the guns are meant to be part of the building tension as Kylo pursues you, immediately before the climactic confrontation and payoff. But even with the guns functioning, the Kylo chase section never really worked - there was no sense of imminent danger, no building dread. In part that's the fault of the ride, in part it's due to how badly the films handled the character. For a more thrilling chase, look to Beijing's Jurassic World - or even AK's Dinosaur.

Thanks for the insight!

If DL ends up getting it working again/fixed, any chance that work and knowledge could be transferred to DHS? I guess no, but such a sad thing to not fix..

To my understanding DHS's gun are beyond repair or being fixed, due to their management's decisions.

If this is true, that's absolutely embarrassing for Disney. Giving up on relatively major effect on one of their newest headlining attractions in just a couple of years.

Yep, I was told WDI was even talking before the ride opened that the guns would be the first thing to go, and wouldn't last long. For me this is just a sign that WDI has really lost a lot of it's integrity. This might be in part due to that there are really no "career Imaginers" any more. Basically all of WDI is contract workers, that just move from gig to gig, and company to company. WDI doesn't value tribal knowledge anymore, from what I've seen, and heard.

Do you mean the three-gun "A mode" is gone, with the single-gun "B mode" remaining as the permanent replacement?

Or do you mean that none of the guns will move?

The single-gun "B mode" isn't that bad (though far from optimal), but no guns would be awful.

In DL currently 1 gun is working, in DHS none of the guns are working, and it looks like trash.

What a travesty and how unacceptable, especially since they're racking hundreds to thousands each day from ILL's for it.

At least get the first cannon working again so it's somewhat decent.....and fix the ceiling pieces in the Kylo scene..

Finally found another video of the extra dialogue and music for when RVs need to hold/pause (probably stacked at unload). I only previously found videos at the escape pod and the crash site/unload area.

This one occurs at the cannon room. The audio exchange is unique to this certain room since Bek talks about the escape pods being right nearby. They were stopped for about a minute.

But man, Lt. Bek really screams at R5 here. You can really hear the desperation in his voice!! Love how he says "Yes, I never doubted you!" as soon the ride resumes.

Timestamped video of it:

Found another video with extra holding dialogue featuring Lt. Bek and R5. This time they're stopped after the cannon room, right in front of the "destroyed" electrical wall.

Lt. Bek comments that "your transports just shorted from the electrical activity!", which once again shows that the audio is unique to this specific holding position.

Timestamped video:

Now if I were to guess, the other holding areas are:
  • After probe droid before FO encounter
  • Inside AT-AT room
  • After elevator up and shots fired
  • After bridge before Kylo chases you
Previously confirmed holding areas:
  • Before cannons
  • After cannons/electrical (new)
  • Escape pod doors
  • Inside escape pod/crash
  • Outside crash site/unload
Now this tells us that about 8 dispatches can run at once (~28 sec intervals), without counting those waiting to unload after exiting the escape pods.

All 3 cannons were working today - video clipped to start just before.

Sadly, they just clipped their original POV they took back in December 2019.

Few things gave it away; people assigned to other colors were not present in other RV (plaid CM also present out of nowhere lol), probe droid drops down and works, and ceiling vent unit in final Kylo works/falls.

Here's the original:

Bummer. Good catch!

I rode ROTR a few days ago. Great ride, but too bad some things were not working. Lieutenant Bek in the transport shuttle was not working and closed off, which made for a strange experience when you’re standing in the front part as you can’t see what is really happening.
The probe droid is stuck…cannons were not working and Kylo was in B-mode.

I’m still here till Friday so I hope at least Lieutenant Bek might be fixed… but I don’t get my hopes up.

There are actually three Bek's, one in each of three shuttle interiors. It's likely only that one was down, and you just had the 1-in-3 bad luck of getting that particular transport.

There’s 3 shuttles? Aren’t there only two pre show rooms?

Both pre-shows exit out to the same outdoor space with the shuttle exterior. Inside the fake shuttle exterior there are three shuttle interiors that rotate around from Load to Show to Exit. Imagine Carousel of Progress if you couldn't see that the theaters were moving from the outside.

How long has Kylo been in B-mode in last scene? We rode the week after Christmas 2021, and he was in B-mode then. Rode again mid-March and still in B-mode.

Although the B-mode was somewhat cool in December trip because I had never seen it before, not having A-mode Kylo was really noticeable and affected the ride experience in March trip.

Also, as has been discussed in the recent posts, Cannon 1 was working in December trip, but no cannons moving in March trip.

This seems like an odd design choice. The shuttle is one of the least effective parts of RotR, and the layout of the space prevents many guests from a clear view of Beck (especially those in wheel chairs). Seems like a much better choice would have been to leave the shuttle entirely screen based and have three more AAs in the ride portion.

Actually, the placement of AAs is very weird throughout the ride. Finn is almost hidden - I completely missed him on the first ride through and had to have him specifically pointed out to me. This is a problem with trackless systems generally of course - they make it harder to focus guests attention where designers want it. Even given that, the AT-AT room, while cool, is very bad at using cues to prompt riders on where to look.

Kylo has been in A-mode at various points in January and February 2022. I was also there Christmas 2021 and rode 3 separate times on different days and were all B-mode.

For example, here's a livestream from 2/5/2022 that has him in A-mode:

If (or while) they aren’t going to fix the moving cannons they should at least change the vehicle motion to continuously move through the scene.

The RVs already move in a different pattern in (official) B-mode no? They move forward, backwards, then forward again as they proceed to Kylo's last encounter.
