Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance

It’s almost as if the entire point of TLJ is that idolizing the past and expecting it to repeat exactly (like Rey, Finn, Luke, and the fans all did) is as foolish as trying to completely erase the past and ignore it’s effect on the present (like Kylo). Why, what an appropriate thematic approach for a film trying to follow up one of the most beloved trilogies of all time. It resonates both on the level of the characters themselves and as a meta-commentary on the film itself.

But no, the angry internet commentators are probably right. It’s just trolling. Rey should have been Luke’s daughter, Del Toro should have had a heart of gold, Kylo should have been redeemed, and Snoke should have been Yoda’s naughty brother.
The story was set up for the reveal that the past DOESN’T repeat exactly. That’s the point. Luke even tells viewers in the trailer; “This is not going to go the way you think.”

To survive, the heroes - and the series - need to find their own way, while still respecting the spirit of what went before.

This is why I think, with the passage of time, TLJ will be looked at much more favorably. The themes present in it, and the way those themes are presented, tells a compelling story that sets the Star Wars franchise to go in new, interesting directions.
but that is how TLJ ends THE PAST DOES REPEAT. At the end all we are left with is a small rebellion who has to now defeat a evil empire. 'we have to stop the bad guys" TLJ is wheels spinning the movie. If they wanted to do something different have it end when kylo offers rey his hand. or have her join him and end it. no at the end the twist is kylo really didnt really change sides he just took control of the new order and wants to hunt down the rebels. the move starts and ends the same. it is not deep or creative. it is a hot mess and pretentious.

Well, most storytelling for any kind of action movie is we have to stop the bad guys. That's a little simplistic.

The rebels were not devistated in empire. They were down but not out. Here, the resistance is decimated - practically wiped out. Down to a handful in a galaxy that's become indifferent. But there's a spark of hope that remains and always will remain, even in the darkest hour.

These are different themes than empire. While there are a few common elements, the thematic presentation is quite different.

This movie discussion is exhausting and frustrating for those of us hoping to discuss a new theme park ride in a theme park ride thread on a theme park sub-forum of a theme park news and rumo(u)rs sub-forum of a theme park forum. You guys took like five wrong turns to arrive here. Think you can turn the Falcon around and lightspeed it out of here in 12 parsecs?

Best I’ve been able to confirm is that Christmas week is viewed as a must. TDO is petrified that any delay past 12/21 will lead to them losing a fortune during the ultra-expensive holiday fortnight. This is why they prioritized WDW over DL in the first place. So every effort will be made to open before Christmas. Further, given the current state of the ride, a December opening is still possible. Let’s hope no further issues come up.

The ride is not presently torn up. It looks like a ride. But it doesn’t run at full capacity yet, which is completely normal for a new ride. Is Hagrid running all trains for full park days yet?

You don't sound confident about a December. I just hope no shortcuts are taken. Enough damage has been done by trying to prematurely rush things.

I’m confident it’ll be close. But due to the response to the rest of the land, they can’t afford to half-alien swirling saucers it. The issues aren’t related to the visuals anyway.

I certainly would not bank on much soft-opening. I anticipate an opening similar to Hagrid.

10 hour wait because it's broken down more than half the time?

I go with the volume of blue milk vomit. It looks like Roller Coaster Tycoon on the streets of Black Spire!

You're absolutely right. I've been an offender in that regard, but I'm going to stop engaging on the topic of the movies / state of the franchise / etc. It's exhausting.... And it is off-topic.
