Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance

Couple of things I've been made aware of over the past 48 hours:

1. The ride is being launched much earlier than it is ready to handle in DHS. Training is not sufficient, either for operation or for maintenance. It was recommended to open no earlier than Dec 14th, but Chapek himself ordered the date remain the 5th. Even the 14th was pushing it just to get it out for the holidays.
2. When the ride works, it is fantastic, and possibly the best immersive attraction in twenty years for any park anywhere.
3. Putting everything into the Disney Trilogy has Iger worried; SW9 just finished filming with Iger himself having reordered many reshoots to try to bridge the divide in the fans. Abrams won't have the final cut finished for a few more days. If SW9 is poorly received, it could damage the ride's reception despite its incredible tech and execution.
4. Downtime could be a massive issue for at least the first month. The ride is flat-out not ready for launch and has had major issues all the way through development. Nothing has changed since I made this post back in August:

If you get to ride it at DHS, it should be incredible. But unless holiday miracles go Disney's way, it's going to be all-hands-on-deck to keep this thing running... and could be a very bumpy ride for a while.
Ouch.

A while back I posted about those in the know wanting the opening pushed back to at least the 12th, if not later. Seems they could have been right.

What type of numbers are we looking at this attraction doing operationally? If I'm going to ask anyone it'd be you. Unsure if it's been asked before.

They only just finnished reshoots, like recently, that is really concerning, are the test screening rumours true?
Yep, Episode IX has suffered from poor industry buzz* for almost two months. Word travels fast in Hollywood. It’s partly why Disney PR has been pushing the Mandalorian—a bona-fide success—instead of Episode IX. Episode IX opens in a few weeks, and the Disney spin machine is only talking about Baby Yoda.

Do you have any idea of what has changed in the Iger ordered reshoots?
*The problem with “industry buzz” in Hollywood is that it’s notoriously vague and exaggerated. “John Carter is terrible” (not true). “Only basement-dwelling chauvinists hated ‘Last Jedi.’” (My sister begs to differ.) Regardless of the facts, they repeat things in a vacuum chamber until they believe it simply because they’ve heard it so many times—which, incidentally, is why you shouldn’t rely on them for political info. ;)

Bottom line, everyone is under stacks of NDAs and tries to sidestep those by simply using vague adjectives. You’re only going to hear vague positive or negative buzz until the facts trickle out years later.

Edit: Google “Star Wars Reshoots” to see the rumors. This doesn’t mean that anything anybody is saying is correct, but it does show the buzz is poor. I had posted a link on here, but I deleted it because someone thought I was posting it as fact, not as an example.

So the buzz for “Last Jedi” has been terrible for months, but we didn’t know how true that was until Iger got involved with the reshoots. That’s because the other thing about Hollywood is how everyone is under stacks of NDAs and tries to sidestep those by simply using vague adjectives.

The most recent YouTube vid about this came out five days ago, but remember that it’s mostly people repeating rumors they’ve heard. Facts are under NDA wraps for now, but will probably leak after the movie released.

I’m posting this as an example of how people are discussing Episode IX, not as a legit news source. I have no idea who these people are. :D

You seriously posting these kind of videos here. All these channels are posting false rumors. Stirring the fan base into a frenzy.

No, no, no! I was posting as an academic example that people are talking about it. If it’s possible that people misread that as fact or complicit agreement, I’ll take it out my post! :)

Makes we wonder which costumed CMs they'll send out to evac riders off of the ride portion, Resistance or FO... Will they keep Res and FO CM's from coming into contact with each other? Have the Res CM's play it up like they're busting the guests out of the ship? 😉

Both of those were refuted by the director.
I would not believe everything JJ says. He is trying to sell a product.
Word on the street has not been kind to Star War ep.9

It's a shame by the time Return of the Jedi rolled around, Empire was considered a classic with some of the best lines, best characters, best music of all Star Wars. At the same time, Empire built upon the original Star Wars characters and made the audience care even more about them.

Hope all goes well with Ep 9 but it isn't looking pretty (should have stuck with the 50 page Lucas story treatment and worked off of that...my opinion)

Mandalorian is great and I'm excited about the future of Star Wars on Disney +.
