I guess that would depend on which opening time is the metric. The posted or the actual.

I don't follow. They're allowing guests to enter the park before open time, which is consistent with procedures over the recent years. But groups still aren't available until the actual park open time. As long as that's the case, there's little need to be up hours before official open time, which is what the previous poster was saying.

Sorry to hurt the narrative with an actual experience.

Rode first time yesterday. As expected, it was insanely good. Best ride at WDW.

We went to MVMCP last night and had a wonderful Christmastime.

Didn’t set an alarm today. Woke at 7:15 am at Wilderness Lodge and easily arrived at DHS by Disney bus at 8:20 am. Got BG 161. We are at WL now for dinner, returning to DHS later. Things look good so far. Hopefully we will manage to sleep in and still ride. Will report back.

I love the BG system.

Proof we are actually here:

Perhaps we haven’t seen the last of the opening changes yet.

But Disney basically forces you to plan your days out months in advance. You can't wait to make ADR's anymore otherwise you might not get a Ressie where you wanna eat... You have to pick you FP's out months ahead of time or you may not be able to ride everything you want. Now with this mess of everyone being able to get BG's at the same time, you could get group 10, you could get group 55. At least with opening BG's early and not having everyone hop on the app at once, you could sort of guess what time your BG would be. Want something early? Arrive early.. want something later in the day, like mid-afternoon? Arrive later. Now its just a free for all. And you can agree to disagree all you want as that seems to be what you do best here, telling people they're wrong all the time.

Yes, your ride time will be a bit of a crapshoot, but it's not as bad as it sounds. We made changes on the fly to dining, fastpasses, and when we'd be riding Rise. It really wasn't that hard. Heck, the last day we had one of us with group 4 and the other group 60, plus one kid that was riding and two kids that weren't. Again, it wasn't difficult to manage. They give you 2 hours in which to return and you can track the ride's progress pretty easily on the app. I think your worries are unnecessary.

why compare to the local AP bogeyman when the out of state AP is much more expensive?

You seem to be saying stupidity should be rewarded with entitlements. Why don’t you just stay offsite?
This has been discussed ten fold. Local AP’s are still spending money on food, merch, and even a resort stay for those a couple hours away. And on a more consistent basis than those visiting once every couple years.

Changes to the WDW FP system are slowly creeping forwards still.
Although I hate the entire FP system, the DL MaxPass system is far better - would love for WDW to adopt that system and get rid of 60 day in advance reservations - perhaps just give hotel guests MaxPass for free or ability to book more at once day of visit for their benefit? The pre-planning that is required now is ridiculous and really sucks the joy out of a "vacation".

Lol......you dont get it either huh? I do get up early, I want to ride the ride...........

Wow.....Really? the resort guest is every day....just a different one...think about it
Wow, nobody gets it except you? Hmmmm

I'd venture that you have no factual data how much an average AP local or otherwise spends on a 5 year basis, you just seem to be projecting what you want to believe it is to justify your position of entitlement. You do though seem to have something against AP's that is kind of fascinating.

Didn’t rain all day for us yesterday...was dry 10 am to 2 pm and about 3:30-5 and 6-10:30. Sun out 9 am to 3 pm today...

I guess my glass is half full.
We arrived about 1 PM yesterday. Rained on and off all day, but we had good ponchos. I wasn’t complaining. It has helped with crowds. I liked it (except for the wet socks). Lucked out that it was dry for the 8:15 processional.

My feet felt SO uncomfortable. Bare wet feet in sandals all day = blisters but wet socks in sandals (my choice in the end) is neither fashionable nor comfortable. Marginally better than wet socks in wet shoes since I could at least take my socks off to dry a bit while riding Haunted Mansion.

My struggle is real.

Sandals and socks for me too. I’m an old married man so the fashion concern is gone. Get some body glide on the toes in the morning.

That wasn't directed at you rather those who want to show up at 10-11. While you grabbed my attention though I do think you are asking a lot for on site benefits. You have:

-magical express access
-Disney transportation access
-advanced FP access
-advanced ADR access
-for the most part nicer resorts than the rest of Orlando
-closer resorts to the parks which is great after a long day
-don't have to pay parking at the theme parks (the hotel parking I disagree with)

At this point you make a personal decision is it worth it or not. EMH's are always subject to change. So are park hours. So are rides, example Test track going down for the day. A ride can't be an onsite perk if its down all day.

I've stayed on site a ton from the GF all the way down to Pop. I've stayed off site. I've been a day guest, I've also been a AP guest. These are all personal opinion discussions rather than fact discussions so that being said IMHO I cant see how you want even more perks as its pretty fair. If you don't think its fair then offsite should be your path.

Any chance we'll get a FP+ type of system but just not have any standby queue at all? So basically what they're doing now with BG-ish, but you actually get a return time instead of not knowing for sure when your group is called and maybe only to book FP+ once inside the gate?

I like the idea of that if it's feasible with the crowds.
