Again, I've got no proof of this, but it seems that AT&T would work the best at Disneyland. I mean, they did sponsor CircleVision for decades.

I don’t have AT&T, but whatever happens, will happen. If we don’t get a boarding group, then we don’t. I’m not too worried about it. Ideally, they won’t have the need for them by that time, but I doubt that will happen. I just hope they don’t decide to have anything else on a boarding group (Like Marvel) between now and then.

This is a scary thought, but it has merit.

Unless something radically changes with the way this ride has operated at Disneyland for the last three weeks, with daily late openings, nightly early closures, and breakdowns multiple times per day from one to four hours long, then it could be at least a year or maybe two years before any attempt at getting rid of Boarding Groups goes away.

But if we get closer to next Christmas and the Boarding Group thing is still, well, a thing, then I'm sure Mr. Chapek will task his low-level execs in Anaheim and Orlando to come up with a pay-to-play option for Boarding Groups; an option that would allow people to buy access to the system without having to wait in line at a security tent at 7am on their expensive vacation just so they may enter a lottery that has no guarantee of winning a Boarding Group.

In the meantime, I still think they should be giving out a bonus Fastpass for any ride except Star Wars: Rise Before Dawn anyone who fails to win a Boarding Group within the first five minutes of park opening time. That would be much better hospitality and take the sting out of being a loser for their paying customers. Judging by the scenes of disappointment and crying children on Main Street USA that I saw last week, it would also be a much nicer way to run an expensive theme park.

I actually have the opposite feeling. I'm very confident the boarding group sysyem will eventually be abandoned, and it may be a very long time before we ever see anything like it again.

I think the BG death certificate will be signed and sealed when it becomes apparent how discouraging it is for tourists, and how many of them are making other vacation plans this year as a result.

I’m not so sure. If anything this has got to be better for tourists, no? They wouldn’t want to wait in a 3+ hour standby line only him to have 2.5 hours of additional downtime. That’s a huge chunk of their day. I don’t really see how they take BG’s away from either parks until reliability drastically improves.

The flip side is they could reliably guarantee they got on the ride by waiting that long. With the BG system they could spend $X,XXX on a vacation and not get to experience it.

I think what we see happen first is a move to hotel reservations of X length get a guaranteed boarding pass, with that quantity being a special package that can sell out to prevent all groups going to the hotels.

The effort and expense of a Disney vacation for out-of-state families usually isn't fully appreciated by the locals. Those who were going to visit with or without Star Wars probably still will (unless they're still worried about crowds like last summer). But the BG fiasco will discourage a lot of "new" visitors who will decide to wait another year or two on Disney, and take one of their many easier and cheaper vacation options in 2020, instead.

My Texas family is firmly in the latter category.

Not really... the capacity isnt increased. So again, unless you are the people fighting to be there early and first... you still aren’t going to ride.

Remember... there are enough people in the park at opening to take every seat the ride has to offer that day. If they simply got in line becaue they wanted to garuntee a ride... the line would also effectively be “full” for the rest of the day. It’s still a ‘race’ between the same people who are there first thing.

In reality most people would not wait that long but it just goes to show how constrained things are.

Apple slowed down the phones to prevent them from shutting off when you had a below-EOL battery. And only when there were peak calls. Replace the battery and its back to normal. Now, of course, the 6,7, et al will still be slower than an 11 because of processors.

The whole thing is stupid... It's like suing a car company because they added ABS. But it makes for good internet cites.. :/
