Would it be possible to have different lands throughout the parks? Hoth and Endor side by side would be awkward. Plus, I'd love Endor to be in DAK ( with Ewok Village )

I don't like the idea of SW in DAK -- doesn't fit the theme at all of that park. But I agree that different SW lands right next to each other would not be as ideal unless there are some killer transitions. IMHO the best idea is distinct lands (planets) in different parts of DHS; ideally with some sort of transport/ride (think Hogwarts Express meets the MK Railroad) connecting them.

Also, I was thinking about the news about the desert planet in Ep 7 not being Tatooine but being "Jakku" instead. Many of us thought that with the reported park emphasis being on Ep 7 and with Tatooine being featured in that film (as well as 5/6 of the other films), that theming a "Star Wars Land" to Tatooine was probably a no brainer. Now, with Jakku in the picture, I'm not so sure what will happen -- you could still have a desert theme, but you couldn't effectively represent both places (could you?) so those dreams of Mos Eisley Cantina, Jabba's Palace, the Sarlacc pit, pod racing, etc. might not come to pass.

Sure, they could do a largish land with a central spaceport and then different planets along the spokes. The downside to that IMHO is that you have to have a large amount of large to effectively pull it off well. Each planet has to be a sizeable enough area to flesh out the ambiance and have attractions tied to it. And you have to block sightlines such that the different environments don't blend into each other.
I'm not saying that it can't be done, but devoting a land to one planet/theme allows for it to be more immersive.

Pixar confirmed and rumored expansion. So the only thing that is confirmed is the new track.

I think keep them side by side, so Star Wars doesn't take up too much space, but have a bit of a transition area between each that plays on the behind the scenes aspect. For example as you're leaving Naboo you find you're walking off an outdoor set. If you look back you can see the backs of facades and maybe this inbetween space could have some sort of restroom. Clothing merchandise is set up to resemble costume racks you often see pushed around sets and things like toy lightsabers and guns can be bought off a prop table. You then enter a soundstage which turns out to be the icy planet of Hoth. That would allow them to keep the temperature a bit more chilly at all time of year and allow for more ice planet lighting effects.

So forgive me if this has been discussed I have only glanced over the last 5 pages. But what if the pixar area is just a smoke screen. As much as I would love to see a Star Wars park i do not believe that it is viable or would ever happen. As someone else said there is not enough variety or one IP dose not make a whole park. Now I am not say that the rumored expansion of pixar place might not happen but what if the cars land addition is actually just a smoke screen for a HUGE Star Wars expansion. The cars ride being a speederbike/pod racer ride? The whole back lot area up to Star Tours being a totally immersive Star Wars land. like Harry Potter it would be a theme park inside of a theme park. I think this would be an AMAZING addition.
As for DHS as a whole I think they should go in the dircetion of each studio being a land. So you would enter Hollywood Blv. as your "main street" to the hub, then choose between Lucas Land, Pixar Place, Disney Animation, The Muppets Studios exc. With each land having an entrance of the studio it represents. Once inside the different lands instead of the studios showing how they make the movies you are magically transported into the films, so Lucas land you could be transported to a spaceport and visit the lands of Star Wars, or an Indy Base camp. Muppets Studio would be as if you where VIPs to the Muppets Studios full of pranks and gags hidden around the land. Finally Sunset boulevard would remain, retheamed to flow off of Hollywood Blv. But instead of the "Hollywood that never was but always will be" theme, have it be the Hollywood that always was a little gritty and run down to play off the Hollywood Tower Hotel idea... RnrC would need to be retheamed but I havent figured that one out yet lol.
Just my .02 on what I would like to see. All just thoughts to be discussed. In the end it can be summarized as Star wars will get a land not a park, and that DHS needs an upgrade, and this is what I would like to see. And no matter what it looks like or how it is executed one fact is certain. There is to much money to be made on Star Wars, and for that reason we WILL see it at WDW.

I think Iger will care less about the execution of WDW expansions planned for completion after he steps down as CEO because these will be someone else's fiscal headache. I think he does want to leave a mark on the company in a way like Walt and Eisner did. That said, I think he has decided to approved the biggest theme park expansions since he started as CEO. You will see mega projects approved out of nowhere and construction going on to the point of no return, where Iger's successor will have no choice but to finish.

Allow me to day dream...
Imagine catching a space shuttle at the Tomorrowland Space Port in the MK for a direct flight to Pandora at the AK. Later, you can catch a space shuttle at Pandora's Space Port at AK to the Space Port at Mos Eisly, Tatooine, Star Wars Land, HS. Later, catch a space shuttle from the Coruscant Space Port, Star Wars Land, HS, to Space Port Earth, Future World, EC. From there, you can catch the monorail back to the MK....

Staggs looks like the front runner. John Lasseter used to be a contender. Kathleen Kennedy was also rumored. At least Tom Staggs was in charge of the parks before his promotion and showed great interest in Avatar Land. Time will tell.

Lasseter was never a contender and is stretched too thin as is.
Staggs has never been a "parks guy" even if he did play musical chairs into such a spot.

Except if this DOES happen the stock will tank, I don't envy the next management team as pretty much their only options to keep the stock price high is to follow the Iger model so the options are.
1 - Continue with minimal investment in P&R
2 - Sell the parks
3 - Lease the parks.
The problem is Wall St is so used to TWDC handing back cash to the stockholders via repurchases, the market will react swiftly and negatively if they change their current path. Options 2&3 get around that because it will be someone ELSE's CAPEX not TWDC's

Disagree completely as the market still has room to grow and technology allows for controlling costs. The airport is expanding due to continued growth in central Florida and the tourism numbers speak for themselves.
Plus 'Star Wars'.
