Star Wars Land vs Wizarding World

You’ve concluded that Universal’s rides obliterate Disney’s rides, even though Disney’s flagship ride has not yet opened. Okay, gotcha.
Clearly you didn’t read what I said. I said that may change when Rise of the Resistance opens, but that’s still 4 months away...and even then it’s no guarantee that it’ll be everything Disney is touting it to be.

I was under the impression you can't get into the saber build unless you are purchasing one. Am I wrong on that? Olivanders you can come and watch the show (which was pretty awesome) without a purchase.

You are correct and I agree that does make Ollivanders more appealing.

Oh, so when you referred to Star Wars ride “lineup” you were only meaning one ride. Right.

Ok...so if we go based off of Hogsmeades opening 9 years ago versus Galaxy’s Edge August 29, I’d still take Hogsmeade. Dragon Challenge, Hippogriff, the shops and restaurant, AND Forbidden Journey easily do it for me compared to a bunch of shops and the Falcon ride. Rise doesn’t open until December so if we’re goong based on opening day, can’t count it.
Absolutely ludicrous to say Rise of the Resistance doesn’t count for opening day. It is already completely built and will be open working a couple of months of the rest of the land opening. That’s not even close to the same thing as a land opening without something and then deciding to expand by adding a new attraction years later.

Its not really fair to compare SWGE to two separate lands at Universal that have been evolving over the past decade.

You are most certainly not the first to bring this up. But I challenge you and all of the others who cite the unfairness.

It is fair, extremely fair.

Considering industry precedent, competition, Disney resources and the IP at hand(STAR WARS)
coming to the table with that small acreage and woeful attraction lineup $$at this hour$$ ain't right- it just ain't right.

Now if this were 1996 then I'd cut Disney some slack. But here in 2019 you can't be pulling a stunt like this and not expect to be called out on it.

Not to mention, Star Wars land was announced at D23 in 2015... 4 years ago and is now set to open without their premier attraction. In contrast, Uni built and opened Diagon Alley just 4 years after they opened Hogsmeade. Their turn-around is quick. Disney takes waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too long to do anything they've announced. If Star Wars expansion land were to be built, does anyone think it would take 4 years or less from now to open? Personally, I wouldn't hold my breath for anything less than a 8 years.

Does Dragon Challenge really count? Wasn't it a leftover ride from the previous area and not at all themed to Harry Potter?

I'm sure those who queued for 6 hours+ to then be told "I'm sorry but 'Hagrid's magical creatures motorbike adventure' won't be working today due to technical reasons" would feel equally cheated considering all of Universal resources and the IP at hand (HARRY POTTER) $$at this hour$$ ain't right - it just ain't right.

Personally I wouldn't say this but I'm just using your 'extremely fair' logic ;)

There is truth to this. If anything Disney has the advantage of seeing what has worked best at Harry Potter, such as more streets etc in Diagon Alley vs. Hogsmeade, and applying it to their own Land.

Maybe the fact that it didn't open with the land like it was supposed to leaving a massive missing chunk to both lands? Also the fact that it's a trackless dark ride leaving the area with no thrill rides.

Right over your head.

Anyway, you make a great point. They should have just opened it before it was ready and then have it constantly break down and never know when it would open for the day or close for the night. That would have been a much better strategy. 😂

So. Considering the majority of this board hasn't been to SWGE. You state an opinion (and that is all it is). So. It's better why? Because its better to you? Or is there some reference material or generally accepted theme park grading principle as to why a specific ride is "better" than another ride. Or a specific land better than another land?

It's like coming on here saying "Frontierland Rules!". "It is far superior to Fantasyland because there are more thrill rides in Frontierland and Pecos Bill's is my favorite QS place." Your argument doesn't hold water because it is completely subjective.

What if I don't like roller-coasters? What if I don't like motion rides? What if the immersive factor of the land is what I'm after? What if - after I go to SWGE - I form my own opinion that I like it better than Potter?

Here is what you miss. Nowhere in your rant did you even reference the hotel. Have you experienced staying at the immersive hotel, then transporting over to SWGE? How did you feel that tied into the experience? What were the experiences you liked and disliked? I'll wait for your answer.

I happen to love Potter. But I'm willing to give SWGE a shot, see it for the first time, see how it evolves, see how the hotel works into the equation. And then see how I (not you) feel about the experience.

Fair?

As to my position it doesn't matter. I have already factored in Rise of Residence will be the best ride on earth.

You get just a small fraction of a credit
since for every 1 would be Hagrid rider rebuffed there are 10 others who ride.
