Star Wars Land announced for Disney's Hollywood Studios

Exactly. It didn't excite me or get me interested, was just simply an observation about the blog post. Like you, I was excited for other concept art and information, it just felt underwhelming, all things considered. I'm glad I'm not alone, I was being made to feel even crazier than I already am ;) I guess a restaurant isn't very exciting, it really told me nothing new besides the name. So it was just underwhelming. I'm glad they announced the name but meh. Sorry that bothers some, apparently.

And yep, the name matters. Very few will ever call it by anything other than "The Cantina" in "Star Wars Land".

I also found it a little lazy to have a DJ but I like Rex's inclusion. I'd rather a Cantina band. But I guess that's for private events.
I'm with you too... :)

While I'm not crazy about the name either, I'm sure it will catch on just like the name Galaxy's Edge did. Of course I'll always just refer to it as The Cantina like most of us. It would be cool if it had a name related to Black Spire Outpost or the planet Batuu though. I know that it isn't a big deal, but Disney is like our second family here, and since we will be talking about and visiting this cantina for the rest of our lives, it almost feels like we are naming a beloved pet and want it to be perfect lol! ;) Just my opinion though.

The Rex part is not new news.

The cantina name is just a character's name. It doesn't have to mean anything other than its Oga's bar.

Remember that this isn't 'Star Wars Land'. This is the planet Batuu in the Star Wars Galaxy. Everything is in that universe, that canon. So you can't have 'Chewie's Lunch Box', you have a person's bar. Like Maz's Castle in Episode 7.
I’m surprised they didn’t use the name of the character who owns a bar in the Thrawn: Alliances book which takes place at Black aspire on Batuu. Seemed like a no brainer to me especially seeing that Anakin and Thrawn has both been in that establishment, they could have left some Easter eggs laying around for hard core SW nerds like myself.

Really?

I just wasn't excited. I really don't see the problem :banghead:

FWIW, I'm kinda underwhelmed, too. I think the more important thing is how well it's themed and how enjoyable it is. But I thought the name was kind of meh. And you're entitled to your opinion.

The names don’t matter because people will just call them what they want. Everyone will just say “Let’s go eat at the Cantina”. Does anyone refer to the tea cups as the Mad Tea Party ride? Expedition Everest Legend of the Forbidden Mountain? I don’t even expect to hear people refer to Star Wars Land as Galaxys Edge.

“After Toy Story Land let’s go to Galaxys Edge!!”

It will be more like:

“After Toy Story Land lets go to Star Wars Land!!”

Well, @MrHappy has me calling it OLGA'S now :joyfull:

It's not even "hating" the name. I just felt underwhelmed. It really wasn't even more deep than me being "meh". And I wasn't sure why I was so meh. That was really all it amounted to. Maybe I didn't state it that well at first. Oh well. I wasn't ever trying to make it a big deal, lol.

Thank you :) that was a kind post.

(Just wanted to repeat this not really towards you): It was never meant to be a big deal at all, lol. Like I said above, just had a "meh" feeling and I was surprised I felt that way. I wanted to know if I wasn't alone, and now I know I wasn't. That was really the purpose lol.

I have no doubts I'll love it and enjoy it. I'm very excited for this land.

Long time reader, first time poster. Has the MF attraction queue been discussed yet? It seems like we know pretty well how the BE line will function, but I haven’t seen any talk on where the MF one will be housed. If there is the replica of the Falcon outside, will guests enter that? If so, how will they go from there into the show building without the dimensions of the interior clearly being way off? If you don’t enter through the Falcon, how will the queue explain that you’re somehow inside it without having walked up to it outside?

Yes, there’s plenty of discussion about MF.

In short the exterior model is not the entrance. The entrance is behind it (technically to the left, behind the cockpit side). The queue (after the hanger / section) will be a facsimile of the movie interior. Inside the show building it be as if you re enter the exterior model.

And welcome to none lurking!

I'd like to know how they are going to fit 20,000 visitors a day into Olgas cantina.
I have to believe it will be so crowded any illusions will be destroyed and those that can't get in will be disapointed.

First world problems and all, but am I the only one who had a "meh" and a shrug of the shoulders seeing the "concept art" and the name? Oga's? IDK why I feel so underwhelmed. LOL. I love Rex is being re-invented here, but a DJ? Don't we have enough DJ's at this point running dance parties? lol. I know it's fitting and I'm selling it short maybe but IDK. I'd rather a real Cantina band. Rex can still DJ I guess. They must want Rex to be the Cosmic Ray of Star Wars Land. Not the worst idea.
That’s what I was thinking. Hope it’s more compelling than Sunny Eclipse! I sure hope the food is better too!

They can do what my family and I are gonna do: WAIT.
I've been a Star Wars fan since '77, but I am fully aware that EVERYONE IN THE WORLD/UNIVERSE will descend upon Hollywood Studios when Galaxy's Edge opens next year. It may take a year -- maybe two, but eventually the gawkers and posers will fade and you (and me) will be able to enjoy Galaxy's Edge in relative peace. It just takes a little patience.

Having typed this -- I fully realize how much this may be BS. I REALLY can't wait for SW:GE. I may be willing to brave the crowds to prove my Star Wars worth. Some may complain about the name and the concept of the Cantina, but this is all something new and different and will probably know success once it's opened.

Nerd Authentication: Yes, Thrawn and Anakin Skywalker visited this cantina (probably) but many many years (over 50) have passed since that moment and the cantina may have changed hands a number of times during those intervening years. SW:GE is supposedly set during the newer Star Wars films (Force Awakens and Last Jedi).

I'm with you K-Man. My only issue is my mother-in-law's name is Olga. Therefore, this is too bone-chilling close for me. But, I'll refer to this place as Oga's or Olga's zero-times, it will be simply....the Cantina.
My mother in law’s name isn’t even close to ‘Oga’ but she kinda looks like the ugly alien in the picture so I am bone chilled too.🙀
