In that case pity the other two Falcon riders with nothing to do.

The real time CG processing of Falcon should be very impressive if it works as planned. If anything it could make M:S look extremely dated.
Coupled with the fact that Nvidia is marketing ray tracing as a big feature for consumers now, I can't wait to really see what they make that ride do (obviously they're using Quadros, not consumer level tech). If heat becomes a issue then we'll see some classic Thermi tier memes happening.

I have just one request... at least 60 fps. 24-30 is fine for movies and (console :p) games, but a sim should have as high of a frame rate as they can make it.

60FPS or higher has been the standard for large format projection for a long, long time now. No reason to believe they'll change now.

I wonder if they'll switch to the RTX cards and enable the real time ray tracing..would do a huge deal for the graphics of the attraction. I'd guess since they're working with NVIDIA they'll have some version of it regardless.

I hate to say it but that sounds a lot like Mission Space. 4 people per vehicle each one having a task. I think I'll keep my expectations really low.

Except the concept art of the Falcon ride has six seats - they doubled the pilot/co-pilot style chairs. I'm just going to take a stab those six positions here.

1. Pilot
2. Co-Pilot (Shields, landing gears, additional steering assistance as shown in Solo?)
3. Gunner 1 (top quads)
4. Gunner 2 (bottom quads)
5. Navigator 1 (preparing for the jump to lightspeed, jump continually changes due to events of the ride)
6. Navigator 2 (navigation in the realtime environments)

Obviously the gunner positions are usually at the quad turrets, but they've got to have a remote way of firing them in the cockpit too.

You need to factor in the 2 people playing chess too:

Speaking of dated Mission Space... I believe the Falcon ride will be projected onto the inside of a cone shaped surface, right? The Mission Space displays (even the new ones) have always made me feel ill. The Mission Space displays (cockpit screens) have a magnified/lenticular effect that causes the picture to shift as you move. I know you're not supposed to move or look around too much, but the sweet spot where the screen looks best is not very big, so the effect is always present.

@marni1971 , do you know if this effect was done on purpose to create a greater illusion of depth and distance to the "outside" or was it a technical workaround to reflect a display above the cockpit that would've been too bulky had it been mounted in the "front" of the centrifuge pod? I was hoping the recent refurb would do away with this implementation (thinner display panels), but it's still in place. I think it hurts more than it helps.

Yes, Falcon will have a screen that’s bigger than what you will see, and will be stationary outside of the motion base and visible through the (real) windows.

Mission Space was an attempt at a parallax effect, not exactly 3D but slightly more than 2D. Hence the apparent movement if you slightly shift your position.

All six positions the cockpit are interactive. Remember that the Falcon needs lots of TLC to keep flying. In the film's Han, Chewie, and Rey are all over the place flipping switches and using some physical persuasion to keep her working.

No mistaking though... everyone is going to want to sit up front.
