Star Wars Land announced for Disney's Hollywood Studios

The DHS project is so lucky because it has regular flyovers and excellent photos of construction, and it makes the Disneylanders jealous because the flyovers and aerial photographs are so few and far between in Anaheim.

But there was a Marine Corps aviator who just snapped a high quality photo of the Disneyland version of Star Wars Land this past weekend. As a way of thanks to all the Florida-based folks who offer up all those cool photos, I'll post this here as a little gift from Southern California.

It's fun to see the differences between the two projects and the various states of construction in the two lands!

The DHS version is photographed more because it's so much easier to take pictures of a much smaller plot of land.

Also, it looks like there was a mudslide in Anaheim's construction site.

Thanks, @TP2000!

Man, DLR's GE looks like its a lot more land than DHS' GE, most specifically to the upper right of Battle Escape and to the left of the Falcon ride. The extra area on the lower left is likely backstage like DHS, right? Even still, from the looks of this it seems there will be at least a little more guest facing space in DLR's.

I've been noticing for the past year that there's some key differences in land use and placement between the two projects, aside from the three different entrances in the Disneyland version. As the structures and surrounding berms come into sharper focus this year, you can really start to see how these two projects will differ especially along the perimeters and entry areas of the two lands.

The long warehouse building below the Millenium Falcon ride is the huge Disneyland float warehouse that's been there for 40+ years. The two smaller, newer white buildings to the left of Millenium Falcon is "backstage" area and two pre-fab type buildings that were thrown up a couple years ago as the project got started, very similar to the buildings in the same basic location at DHS.

Actually I reckon it's because HWS is outside of the TFR (No Fly Zone) of the Magic Kingdom and Disney California Adventure is well inside the TFR. You can request clearance into the zone but it's not a guarantee.

Not sure if this has been posted, but there's a camera setup on the roof of one of the Grand Avenue buildings pointed at the land.

EarthCam does live cams of areas as well as timelapse footage of construction projects, which is probably what this is for. It'll be neat to see the final video!
It has been there since the beginning I believe.

@marni1971 has stated the Battle Escape queues will be placed very differently, with FL's version partially inside the berm. I think that space above right of Battle Escape in CA is going to be queue. So guest facing space in a way, but both versions are the same size.

WDW is about 3 or so months behind DL, good thing is any problems during building at DL means it wont be a problem when WDW gets to that section of building.
