I don't know if anyone has addressed this yet, and I'm definitely not complaining, but why did they reveal the Star Wars model when they did instead of waiting until tomorrow? Was it just to start off D23 with a bang? I take this to mean they must still have plenty of jaw dropping things to present regarding the parks or they wouldn't have let the Star Wars cat out of the bag so soon. That would be great news for us if true.

I just watched Star Wars for the first time (I know I'm like 40 years late to the party, so sue me), but I am SO!!!!! excited about this. I also really like the name. I'm all aboard the hype train now.

I am sure they have grand plans for the interaction, but I also wonder how much of it will become reality, especially since this is going to require a lot of entertainment CM's which they seem to be cutting back on a lot recently.

I think a lot of the 'interactive elements' will be similar to the Casey Jr. fiasco. A few weeks of fun and photo ops, then, up springs the railings and protective fencing! :(

The WDI Pavilion on the exhibit hall showfloor always has a big model or dynamic exhibits that has everyone talking right off the bat. The showfloor is open nine hours per day all three days, with the Parks Presentation saved for brand new concepts we don't know about yet (officially).

I'm excited as well!! I finally will be able to understand what all you crazy people are talking about in this thread ;)
Ha! That's true. You'll have to let us know what you think of them too please. I'm actually jealous since you won't have to wait eons between movies like most of us did. Lucky girl!

Makes sense. Thanks!

As far as Disneyland is concerned. If they don't put rocks on the Mickey and Friends parking structure I would consider Disney just taking the cheap way out. May need to theme a good chunk on Anaheim also.

The current height of the show building completely obscures any views from the M&F top deck to the tips of the new trees on top of the 30 foot berm... let alone the future ground level where guests will be.

Sure... if you are 150 feet tall standing on Tom Sawyer's island (as per that photo's vantage) M&F will be quite visible.

Also quite visible would be the cities of Fullerton and Brea, and the Sky Cabin up the freeway at Knott's Berry Farm. :D

For humans 149 feet tall or shorter, Disneyland's parking structure will not be visible from Star Wars Land, Critter Country, New Orleans Square or Frontierland. The cliffs of Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge will see to that.

I was looking at the D23 model today, from the raised viewing platform at the back of the room while everyone else crushed up against the ropes. A nice young bearded guy in a WDI shirt and Imagineering nametag came up and asked if I had any questions. We got to talking, he pointed some cool stuff out, and I asked him what he did at WDI. He said "Oh, this and that on a project we haven't announced yet, and I was the show producer for this pavilion at this Expo". DOH! A very nice young man though.

He then explained that the model on display was originally used to get the mountains and cliffs down right, then they morphed into a display model knowing it would go to D23. The model has the "broader berm" (his words) of Disneyland's version, and explained that the model has the underground Fantasmic! boat storage shown as a cement box under the berm (which the model does), and the DHS version would obviously lack that and not need to have such a wide berm along most of the perimeter. He also explained the difference between the three entry points for Disneyland versus the two entry points for DHS.

In other words, the D23 model is based on the Disneyland footprint with a broader berm needed for the Disneyland Railroad to pass above the Fantasmic! boat storage marina hidden underground beneath the berm. Plus some artistic license by remaking north Anaheim and the Fullerton foothills into an alien planet. I found that fascinating!

I love Star Wars and the new land looks wonderful but is anyone else underwhelmed like I am? Obviously, with today's Disney I don't expect much but you can have a lot more than 3 rides in 14 acres. (I'm counting Star Tours).
