Star Wars Land announced for Disney's Hollywood Studios

It's not always clear which project a permit is connected to, and some permits are not connected directly to either one, so I put them all the DHS permits in one thread. Occasionally a permit will come along that is clearly very significant to one project or the other, and in those cases I will post in in the appropriate thread.
Hi @danlb_2000! Thank you so much. I hope you know how much I truly appreciate everything you do on this forum. You always go above and beyond to help address my concerns and questions and that means the world to me. Not just me, but you do this for everyone. So, you totally deserve credit for that. And, I will try to follow the permit thread(s) -- I just realized you have more than one. LOL.

And, I'll be watching to see if Disney will file any permits for Star Tours. I want to know if Disney is going to move this over to Star Wars land. I don't think they should because 3 simulator rides in one area is just too much and it also seems like too much of a hassle.

The project code name is "Delos".
Hi @aaronml! Wow! You must be a real insider! I want to know all the insider information for Star Wars land. Thank you for answering my question, I appreciate this so much!

As an aside, @Lee has that code name in his avatar. Seriously? That's like so covert. LOL.

Star Tours is not being moved. It may get re-themed but if that happens it won't be until after SWL opens.

So the question is how do we relate the codename delos which is an old island tied to the Greek god Apollo to an attraction idea.

Very interesting info about that elusive phase 3/not phase 3 addition at DHS. Also will be interesting to see how much we got for Epcot besides GOTG. Thanks for the info
I still think Phase 3 is more of a Phase 2.5 that is not related to Phase 2 but will involve 'things' being placed 'here and there'. As for a fully fleshed out area akin to TSL (ok - not so fully fleshed out) or SWL, I do not think the plans to have done by 2021 come anywhere close to that level of project.

Sounds to me like a lot of entertainment and show updates which will become very necessary by the time SWL opens up. I do hope they at least somewhat address or have a long term plan for Animation courtyard and to a lesser extent the Indy stunt show. Also if I had to guess this may address Star tours being rethemed.

It would make sense to replace the west end of Echo Lake (Indy and Star Tours) into a new land. Add a new ride, retheme star tours, add a couple of shops and restaraunt and it's good to go! It could easily cost a fourth the price of SW land

Were I in charge, I would leave Star Tours where it is just rethemed and then replace Indy and the Backlot Express with the entire Indy complex from Tokyo DisneySea - Indy and the Crytsal Skull and Raging Spirits for attractions, Character meet & greet trail, plus two dining options: Yucatan Base Camp Grill and Lost River Cookhouse.

I would love the Spirits/Temple of Peril ride to actually have an Indy theme. It's called an Indy ride in Paris, but there's nothing really to tie it to that. Throw in the ark of covenant or something.
Or- Indy boat ride based on The Last Crusade.

Pretty much what I think they should do too!

Not to be too nitpicky, but Indy and ST are the East/Southeast end of Echo Lake...
But overall I agree that that's the most likely scenario for future expansion.

Delos is also the name of the that runs the theme park in the Westworld movie (as well as the new HBO series), where the android inhabitants malfunction and start killing the guests.

That's exactly the reference I thought of when I read the name Delos.

I loved that movie back in the 70's! I think WDI was going after that Delos reference, not the Greek mythology reference.

Hmmmmmm... I wonder if the concept of a wild water excursion has been in development for Magic Kingdom on and off again for the last 5 years?;)
