Yes. Disney is known for constantly updating rides and entertainment so they don't get stagnant. DHS is especially good at this.

I can’t wait. I’m so hopeful they’ll add tangible experiences to the land.

I did ask a cast member if the stunt show is here at DHS. She broke character to disappointedly tell me they haven’t seen it and don’t expect it any time soon.

Mock it all you want. I saw the original of 1977 in the theater (as have most of my friends; same story). Maybe calling it "franchise fatigue" is a bit much, but there's nothing for the OG to get behind, starting with Clone Wars and everything that came after. Weak stories and even weaker characters. Those of us still "into it" won't even get our kids into it, so no fresh blood. Most kids these days - they don't know or care what Star Wars is. First Order? Kylo Ren and Rey and... Zzzz.
My kids are in grade school and like Star Wars, and so do a ton of their friends. 🤷‍♀️ Again, just one person's data, and I am by no means here to be like "Disney is always right about everything", so I'm not claiming I know All Kids or whatever, but my kids really liked Galaxy's Edge.
My experience is the same. My son is a huge Star Wars fan, and most of his friends are. And not just OT, but OT, PT, ST, Clone Wars, Rebels, etc.

I don't buy the idea of Franchise fatigue, because Disney have been cranking out more Marvel content then Star Wars and yet people don't seem to be suffering from Marvel fatigue.
Good point, but Marvel is a pretty far reaching franchise, and is built on strong characters.

Definitely not my experience. Just had a talk with a friend my age today about it and his kids dig lightsabers but that's about it. Maybe it's a timing thing.

To be fair, Disney gives the west coast an amazing amount of updates so this is only an east coast problem. We get so many updates that sometimes they update their recent updates for no reason (Paradise Pier makeover to Pixar). Since both coasts are sharing the same land, it is very possible.

Agreed.

Not sure how this plays into anything since it's sunny and hot today in Anaheim and a hurricane hasn't hit SoCal since 1933 (but it can happen every few hundred years). Wait times at Disneyland and DCA are very low today, with many E Tickets at 5 minutes. Millennium Falcon is currently at 20 minutes and Incredicoaster in Bob Chapek's Pixar Pier is 5 minutes.

This may just be a "me" problem but I've grown kind of tired of Star Wars in certain ways. I just pick and choose what I want to pay attention to. Like 9 and Mandalorian have me somewhat excited but I'm extremely glad to get a final round of The Clone Wars. I saw 8, didn't feel much at all for it and completely ignored Solo. I ended up watching Solo on Netflix and loved it for miles.

But in the most important area for Disney, merchandise, Lego has my attention. The impending release of the $700 UCS Star Destroyer has my undivided attention. They already have my money and they know it. Same exact thing happened with the UCS Falcon.

I would consider myself a far bigger Star Wars fan then Disney Parks fan. I am of the age and era of the original trilogy movies and saw all in first release. However, I am without question in the camp that they made the right choice in setting the theme park land on an unknown planet and in the timeframe of the sequel trilogy.

If we are realistic, some individual locations in the original trilogy were compelling (like the Mos Eisley Cantina), but nothing offered the variety that has been accomplished here on Batuu. Example, if you did Tatooine, you would have to do part of the loading bay dock and the cantina, then leapt across world to Jabba’s palace just to capture the variety of environments they have here... and they wouldn’t be that varied, more drab and colorless. Star Wars is pretty well known for mono cultures or mono ecosystems, which is pretty monotonous for a large theme park addition.

Secondarily, this type of setting allows them to include characters and references to all of the things of the past that make up the universe, along with build this place into the stories moving forward.

There are missteps, but they have made the bold creative choice and in the long run it is the right one.

Finally got around to editing a panorama that I took on opening day:

Well, turns out the forums don't like images that are extremely large so I updated the original post with the highest res one I could and I also just finished editing this one (the full size version of it is 451 MB 😅)

it is sad this land is a flop. I feel like people love Avatar and Toy Story much more. For me personally I have no interest in Star Wars and have never seen a Star Wars movie. it's just crazy to think Disney widened paths, expanded the parking lots, and did all this crazy stuff expecting large crowds and it's been so quiet.

...yet

Give it time. All will be revealed...or they won't and the land can constantly be updated with characters and storylines based on the future of SW.
LOL what future? That Rian GAITU Johnson Trilogy no one cares about? The least anticipated Saga episode ever? Perhaps at least the Mandalorian will be a success. The franchise is in decline and this is entirely the fault of Disney.

People want to see the real Han Solo not some young kid doing a cosplay impression. plus SOLO was a unneccessary pointless story that no one wanted or asked for.
Good luck getting Harrison Ford to agree to that. Or convincing Lucasfilm to spend the money on a convincing deepfake.

I love the short memories of some Star Wars fans. People derided the prequels for a solid fifteen years, and then they were suddenly signing petitions demanding that Lucas come and fix the sequels.

No, no. If only SWL had the OG characters, then it would be much more successful, like Solo was!!!

That’s reductive and obtuse, but you probably know that.

Solo is further evidence of Disney’s mishandling of the original trilogy material. Hardly anybody wanted to see a Han Solo prequel. Huge surprise.
