No, no. If only SWL had the OG characters, then it would be much more successful, like Solo was!!!
I know you're being sarcastic but I'm going to go a little off topic here. Galaxy's Edge is a great land, it can be improved but it was still incredibly fun to do everything with my family.
For all the people complaining that there's no OG characters, I think you're being short sighted. Most of the people who are doing the complaining are middle aged, like me. I'm in my mid 40s, have loved SW since I was a kid and the OG trilogy is my trilogy. However, my godson who is in his early 20s also loves SW, but prefers the prequel trilogy and doesn't care as much about the OG characters. My kids who are 11 and 14 don't care much about the OG or prequel trilogies but they mostly care about the Clone Wars, Rebels, and the new trilogy. SW is something different to everyone based on age and life experiences. George always said he was making those movies for kids, kids as a group don't age, there will always be children who love SW. The problem is that as the kids grow and turn into adults they hold on to the memories of what SW meant to them as a child and have a hard time accepting that other characters may mean the same thing to other people. The thing that I saw on opening weekend at Galaxy's Edge was that people were having FUN. Smiles after being in the Millenium Falcon, adults and kids alike walking around with lightsabers. Walt wanted a park where adults and kids could enjoy having fun together and this land accomplishes that for the majority of people, it's not perfect, but I'm still happy it's there and no one can convince me otherwise.

Perfectly said, it does however give credibility to the idea that Star Wars should be a whole park encompassing every generation but that is obviously a logistical nightmare in creating a 5th gate. Galaxy's Edge looks amazing for what they have done and I can't wait to see it myself in February.

And just cause I feel that this thread needs it...

I don't buy the idea of Franchise fatigue, because Disney have been cranking out more Marvel content then Star Wars and yet people don't seem to be suffering from Marvel fatigue.
As you shouldn't buy it because anyone selling it, aren't worth listening to. There is a big difference between franchise fatigue and not liking Disneys handling of the franchise. People have been yapping superhero fatigue since before the MCU started. Well guess what. Good movies/content equals no fatigue. Next years celebration sold out in what, 20 min. That hardly screams fatigue in my book.

"Solo" was successful? That's a new one. I watched it, eventually... And it was "okay." BUT, I think spin-offs may be the future of the franchise and a way to leverage it. The original story arc has gotten muddled and the prequels and sequels have done it a disservice, if you ask me. They're not making anyone happy.

My problem is that when you reveal a character’s middle and end before his start, there is no real sense of peril.

Unfortunately, despite loving the OT, and despite growing up with it at a young age, Disney cannot realistically keep with the OT for the land. I am sure Ep IX will provide answers as to why there is so much importance with Batuu.

There are lots of references to the PT and OT throughout the land, and I've not even seen many of them yet (and just via pictures and videos).

As said above, basically Disney need a park that they can evolve. Han is no longer with us. Chewie has the Falcon. Rey and Kylo are important characters. No doubt things will develop.

That’s true for the main character(s) but the way I see it is you still have to worry about everyone else so there is still a peril aspect to these movies. Whenever they do a prequel like this where you know the characters future, it’s kind of like watching a Superman movie for me. I’m never really worried about Superman himself (even when he dies you know he’s coming back), I’m just hoping he gets there in time to save the day. So for me anyway, I can still enjoy prequels like Solo as I just want more time in that universe and with the characters I love. Would I rather have more adventures with Ford playing an older Solo? Yes! But he’s been wanting to get killed off since the first movie. So I’ll take what I can get. Lol! But I get that it’s not for everyone.

Here’s my take. I am a Disney Park fan first, then a Disney/Pixar movie fan, then Star Wars/Marvel.

As a Disney Park fan, I am ecstatic with what they created. It’s huge, well themed, and has two e-ticket rides, one which promises to be insane. Disney park fans win here fully.

As someone who likes Star Wars, it’s about as Star Wars as I need it, and I’ve enjoyed pretty much every film to date with maybe the prequels at the bottom for me, although they came out when I was a kid/teen.

Not to add fuel to the fire, but there are some fans who wouldn't like anything done with Star Wars once Lucas was out of the picture.

I can't remember where, but I once read that Lucas had already written some for the future of Star Wars and that it focused super heavily on midichlorians, and that would have been horrible, IMO. Honestly, I'm glad Lucas sold and Disney bought. Between the midichlorian thing and the digital edits he insisted on making to the OT (that look horrible in films created with old-school visual effects...I mean seriously...that digital Jabba is SO BAD), he should have let it go sooner than he ended up doing so. I'm not sure there's a company (aside from Disney) on the planet that could have stepped in and continued telling Star Wars stories through film - it was a huge financial risk I'm not sure any other company would have been willing to take.

I've really been enjoying the ST and Rogue One and Solo...I'm glad we have them. And I'm glad we'll be able to enjoy more Star Wars films going forward. And I'm pretty sure hubby will be jumping out of his skin with joy when we do eventually get to pilot the Falcon.
