News Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge - Historical Construction/Impressions

So how about that 'Galaxy's Edge'.

It has been a interesting and enlightening couple of weeks hearing various views, seeing various video coverage, and observing from a distance.

My observations over the last couple of days seems to be that as a whole this new area is somewhat of a 'let down' for some folks.
Some have expressed it verbally....others I get the impression they don't want to share their real thoughts as it will 'tarnish' their rep, stature, etc.
I'm not nessesarily saying it is folks here.....you guys always give great reviews.
I'm talking primarily about reviews and opinions in general 'out there' in the universe....uh, galaxy.

I am getting the real impression that this is not the mega 'smash hit' Disney expected.
I am getting quite an impression that this is a bit of a 'bust' on some levels so far.

The last two days in particular have been interesting to me in that since we are now in general admission time and the masses just don't seem to be decending on Anaheim to see this seemingly 'exciting new area'.
I realize the AP situation, but still...I would think the hard core fans would buy a ticket regardless just to check it out since the Park has been so 'empty' of late.
Where is everyone, and where is that 'buzz' that usually follows the opening of a anticipated Attraction / area?
I'm not feeling it with this project.

It has also been interesting because now we are past the time period of mega-hyping via Disney pre-opening marketing and social media campaigns as well as the brief spurt of Opening paid off YouTube 'bloggers'.
Now we are in that sweet 'between' time ....after all of that pre-opening hullabaloo, now we are getting the real opinions, straight from average Guests mouths who aren't working for the Mouse.

Like I said, it's been interesting.

Much of what I've read elsewhere from non-uber fans ( both SW and DL ) is somewhat mediocre, in that they neither rave about the experiences nor do they slam it....but there is just a general consensus of 'that ( insert activity here ) was kinda cool, but it could have been better' to just a ' it was okay, but it will be way better when RoTR opens!'

I'm not really hearing the excited tones one would expect after the opening of a expansion like this.
Perhaps folks are just waiting until 'Rise' opens to assess their full opinion on the area.

Just seems a wee bit too quiet for the very trumpeted STAR WARS 'blockbuster' new area attached to the Park.

Strictly a observation, and my current impression so far.
I'm sure I will have additional and perhaps very different thoughts once the time comes I am able to experience it in person first hand.

I’m really just looking at this site. It’s the only place I can trust I’ll get honest and diverse opinions.
That's your problem 😂. Majority outside this site probably have positive reviews. A lot of the people on here have opinions without even getting a chance to ride the ride first, instead they watch a POV on YouTube and then blabber about it on here....

I don't know if the "no crowd" thing is true. Adam the Woo posted a video from yesterday where he went on the opening on general admission day and there was a 80 minute wait for smuggler's run and he showed the line went deep into the seller's market area.

I think I’ve said this before, but the thought process of an average Disney park guest can literally be boiled down to:

New thing + IP I like = YAAAAY!

See Pixar Pier.

I want the Falcon ride gone. Tie the two ends of the land together and make good use of that massive space. The Falcon can remain outside. I’ve heard mostly negative opinions about this ride (or at least less than stellar) so I don’t think the ride itself will be missed. Sure, there’d be the loss of the chess room, but I mean, chess room... or a great thrill ride that captures the spirit of Star Wars... hmm.

I am not picking on you, but why do people keep calling it the chess room? I know there is a chess table. It's really suppose to be called main hold.

I will be going to Disneyland this weekend. I will see if I can make it into Batuu. I will try and review it.

See Pixar Pier.

I'm sure the average guest isn't nearly as discriminating ( retentive?) as most in this forum. But, I think their viewpoint is valuable because it's brutally no-nonsense.

"Is what Disney's offering worth the price I have to pay for it?"

Right now, the answer appears to be no, with regards to SWGE sans RotR.

Once RotR opens, and prices drop (aka APs come unblocked), we'll see how the metrics change.

The public do occasionally have a small ounce of judgement.

Universal learned that with Fast and the Furious. Universal also coincidentally learned there is a perceptual limit to 'virtual' with Volcano Bay.

So I think your formula can be corrected to New Thing + Can I get on it + IP I like OR it goes wheeee = YAAAAY!

Personally, I'm waiting for RofR to open. If I'm going to spend $150 plus a lot more for merch then I want the full experience. My sister has an AP pass. She didn't realize you needed to book a time to enter the land. She just walked in multiple times during the day and no one stopped her. She did single rider on the Target Fun and rode it five times in an hour. She likes the place but there is too much expensive merch. The land feels dead not because of the crowds but because there isn't enough aliens and droids wondering around. Even the droids you see aren't moving their heads and the landspeeders are not hovering. It feels static.

I was disappointed to see that the droids didn't even move their heads. Though I do think they could be capable of it - as there's a blue and yellow R2 near the Droid Depot that I've seen in different positions.

Droids and aliens need to be added to the streetmosphere for sure. Some sort of water feature (outside of the ROTR queue) would've been nice too, but it's too late for that.

They do move if you hack them with the app.

They need to promote this aspect more, like WWHP is able to do with the shop windows.

Which reminds me - weren't the droids you buy at the depot interactive to parts of the land, like the HP wands? I've seen some videos of them right after they were built moving around (and that race led by Chewbacca), but I've yet to see the land interaction.

Well that's cool. I hadn't seen or heard that yet. But I feel like they should be moving regardless of hacking. Maybe hacking could trigger sounds instead?

Yeah, you never needed an app for this!
