I don’t think it can fit that many FOH staff...

Well, you’re never going to have the entire staff on the floor at once. the bar staff is behind the bar so they have their own space. The number I gave for servers was too high. There’s only 8 max on the floor at a time, plus a few extra in charge of lunch relief. And then the hosts are mostly outside the restaurant itself.

Aside from the fact that Batuu is not Star Wars yet, Batuu has a distinct lack of personality of its own. Everything from stores, merchandise, attractions, and shows suggests it’s more of a Star Wars greatest hits. They could have accomplished the same with actual locations from the original trilogy like Tatooine. There’s no storylines to trace in Galaxy’s Edge unlike Wizarding World of Harry Potter. It’s a disjointed experience.

People are reviewing the food items on YouTube as if I care. I suppose anything about Jedi has disappeared with no Jedi walkabout characters since The Last Jedi has off’d himself.

Batuu is canonical Star Wars. So says the owner of Star Wars. And it has been showing up in official Star Wars comics and books.

You can make a Jedi light saber and Rey will be in RotR, so, no, the Jedi hasn't disappeared from the land.

The people who review the food don't care if you don't care. They have plenty of others who do care.

There are definitely storylines to trace through Batuu. Blaster marks from a bar fight with Padme. The rebel spy (from Star Tours) is being tracked by Kylo (the Star Tours ship is seen taking off from Batuu in Smuggler's Run. There is a whole story line with Vi running around the land. The is the detailed backstory of the land.

In short: Everything you say is wrong.

Go away until you learn to stop making up stuff as part of your schtick.

I’m not making stuff up. It’s been reported.

It’s so easy check that I call you a liar.

Naturally, there’s a lot of Star Wars nostalgia baked into every part of Galaxy’s Edge, drawn from years of movies, animated shows, books and comics. The visual language of Star Wars, largely inspired by George Lucas’ original concept artist Ralph McQuarrie, is everywhere. And it’s glorious. From the distinctive shapes of the pale brown, orange and green buildings, to the moisture vaperators and cables running down laser-cut tunnels and -- of course -- a cantina, the incredible design details bring us as close to that galaxy far, far away as most of us will ever physically get.”

“One of the most important aspects of Galaxy’s Edge is that, other than a few mentions (so far, more are coming) in books and the Han Solo movie, Batuu and Black Spire Outpost don’t come with a story that’s already been told. That too is by design. Audiences already know what happened on, say, Hoth or Endor. On Batuu, Disney wants guests who aren’t necessarily huge fans to have a blank story slate, able to create and live out their own "Star Wars" adventure.”

That doesn't mean there aren't stories and backstories... all that means it you're experiencing the stories new, not in a film or a book. It doesn't mean the land doesn't have it's own stories.

Context.

They meant that in terms of a story that's *already been told* which would mean that you're simply re-living (like the many 'book report' rides).

It's a new story and it's canonical. The Millennium Falcon and Chewie have as part of their official canonical history a stay at Batuu.

And there are backstories for flavor. It is not story-less as you claim.

But this is a criticism, not an advantage for those that want actual Star Wars in a Star Wars Land. It’s an entirely new creation that I’m certainly not familiar with and another leap further into the abyss from the terrible sequel trilogy that will get its final attempt at redemption (Episode 9) or forever be disliked by Star Wars fans.

The author has admitted people will makeup their own stories at Galaxy’s Edge’s Batuu. Just because we devise our own Star Wars stories with help from Disney’s Imagineering doesn’t make it more Star Wars, it makes it less.

Cool goalpost, bro.

The problem with a theme park being canonical is that the Falcon ride is destined to change. Do any changes then override the old version of the attraction? Or would both simultaneously be canon?

The PR department is the one pushing the idea that the land can update to keep up with the movie-verse. It is yet to be seen if that will happen.

The three scenarios for the Smuggler's Run we've heard about, all take place in the same time frame.

If the future of the movie-verse is moving beyond the Skywalker saga and the eclipse of the First Order... then it will take some fancy imagineering and lots of money to overlay RotR to keep up with that.

Which I don't think will happen.

Unless for DHS, they use the large expansion pad of basically the parking lot to create an updated/different SW land, like the Wizarding Wrold did for Hogsmeade v. Diagon Alley.

Its Star Wars. Its Canon. It has a backstory. It has an ongoing story. Deal with it.

“Craft a Lightsaber at Savi’s Workshop**

Constructing a lightsaber is a rite of passage in the life of a Jedi, as this elegant weapon from a more civilized age is attuned to its wielder through the Force.”

They couldn’t have a Jedi Trials if you want to become a Jedi. Or christian a Sith Lord. Missed opportunity. It’s at Savi’s workshop at gouge pricing as it should be within character. Luke designed his own lightsaber with parts he found.

“Build a Droid Inside the Droid Depot**

Droids can be some of the most loyal companions in the entire Star Wars galaxy, and now you have the chance to build and customize your own astromech friends at the Droid Depot.”

There’s something more enticing to pick out a droid from a lineup like in Episode 4. I’ll take this one. Then fix it as the mechanic you are and make it look better.

“Drop By for a Drink at Oga’s Cantina

The heartbeat of Black Spire Outpost, Oga’s Cantina is a place where even the blaster-bolt scorches on the walls tell a story. Guests can gather to share tales from around the galaxy as you enjoy exotic beverages served in unique vessels and listen to spirited musical entertainment from DJ R-3X, the former droid pilot from Star Tours.”

All the reasons for going to Mos Eisley is gone especially with the Millennium Falcon right next door. And there’s no alien band. Han’s table isn’t there. But you can drink up what he’s not having.

“Take a Swig of Blue Milk

Ever since Luke Skywalker sat down for a family meal in Star Wars: A New Hope, Star Wars fans have had this burning question: What does Blue Milk taste like? Now at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, you finally have your answer. The Milk Stand in the Black Spire Outpost marketplace offers both Blue and Green Milk, delicious frozen blends with dashes of fruity accents.”

Aunt Beru would be shocked to know her memory is not mentioned at all. It would have been better to be served from Luke’s underground home. This just shows Tatooine had all these elements and should be the basis of Star Wars Land.

Star Tours was always canon. I believe Indiana Jones is too. This is not something new.
Star Tours featured scenes that could be from the actual movies and didn’t deviate at all. The only controversy was timeline. Indiana Jones Adventure was good. Whether it was canon was irrelevant. Star Wars Land borrowed so much from the original trilogy that it makes no sense to call it Batuu.

How The Force Awakens is a remake of A New Hope”

“Anyone else find the scenes of Rey walking the Jakku desert with BB-8 by her side a little too familiar? Maybe it's because you've seen it before. After purchasing C3PO and R2D2 from a Tatooine outpost, Luke Skywalker walks in the Tatooine desert with R2D2 and C3PO in A New Hope in just the same way.”

Interesting that Batuu could be a remake of Tatoonie. All the elements are there.

Unfortunately this is now going to be the continual debate from now until the end of time....

Nothing unfortunate about it. Being able to discuss the positives and negatives of Galaxy's Edge placement in Disneyland and it's creative execution- as well as Disney's era of Star Wars as a whole is directly relevant to not only Disneyland fans, but is the exact purpose of this discussion board.
