From the WDW forum:

Not a lot. Minor ride system bugs.
Both versions are working on it. It’s normal test and adjust.

It has no bearing on the split ride opening decision.
Of course I’m right :)
But it’s a common problem, not unique. I’d expect it to be solved way before the summer.

And from this forum:

I can confirm the news posted earlier here about the RotR delay - my source has confirmed that there are startup issues with the RotR ride.
I also can confirm a ride vehicle torn apart.
** UPDATE ** - Saw this posted....

A friend of mine works for TDA and she says ROTR isn't coming out due to mechanical issues. Contractors can't figure it out. WDW is having the same problems but worse. TDA Operations is freaking out.

Alright, @marni1971 and @SWGalaxysEdge , these are about as conflicting as reports can get. Which is it?

Mickey Tour Guide: “And over here, you can see one of the ride vehicles—“ (Notices condition of vehicle) “WHAT THE H—“ (Sweating) “Er, sorry folks—Hey can I get you all to look at this ballpoint pen for a second?” FLASH
All right, tourist, there was no totaled ride vehicle. The flash of light you saw in the sky was not a malfunction. Swamp gas from a weather balloon was trapped in a thermal pocket and reflected the light from Tatooine.

What's meant by "a ride vehicle torn apart"? Like, they couldn't get it working mechanically so they tore it down to do major gear work, or that it got into some sort of sig alert collision on the ride and vehicle got totaled? The second issue is unacceptable and basically puts guest lives in danger.

...exactly...cover taken off, and guts exposed.
