With the reservation system ending on June 23rd, does that clue us in to a potential opening for Rise of the Resistance? Only reason I say is because the reservation system is clearly in place because of how reduced the capacity of the land will be w/o ROTR. Most of the AP blockout dates start that weekend as well. Are they expecting full capacity starting June 24th?

You’d think so but there is a reliable insider saying he’d be surprised if ROTR was ready before August. If you think about it, the benefit of the reservation system for those first few weeks is realized whether ROTR is Ready or not.

Which is why I'm surprised they are just not doing the reservation system for the entire summer? Having one less ride will stagnate the crowds somewhat but yeah they are smart enough to know once they announce ROTR they are going to get another tsunami of people showing up, especially all the ones who will wait to visit until it opens. I don't see the point of having the reservation system for just 3 weeks. And July is when the park is really at its busiest in the summer anyway. Its going to be an bigger zoo now regardless.

The official Galaxy's Edge information page on Disneyland.com is now live. Includes pages for each shop, restaurant and attraction. Some quick things of note:
-No AP discounts at any of the dining or retail locations
-New b-roll footage for Smugglers Run
-Smugglers Run is described as "small drops, thrill ride, dark, loud"
-Information about required reservations and the ROTR fiasco is displayed prominently on almost every page smart
"Reservations required to visit Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge between May 31 and June 23, 2019. Capacity for Disneyland Park, Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge and its experiences is limited. Access to the park, land and experiences may be restricted or unavailable depending on guest demand and other factors.
-There's also a screen grab from the GE section of the Play Disney Parks app. Looks very basic.

It's hard to infer what their strategy is. It could be that the three-week reservation phase is just to buy them some breathing space while they gauge how to manage the crowds. It might also be hedging their bets with respect to RotR. At this point they may not really know how long it's going to take to get it up and running. They have a land with one ride that will be ready to open by May 31. But the lack of RotR's capacity really throws a wrench in the works.

I'm not sure they know what will happen. But the fact that they are not scheduling reservations for DHS suggest that this is a stop-gap measure to try and keep things under control at DL. The timed-entry system allows them to better regulate how many guests are in SWL while they get their heads around the situation. Actually, I think it's a smart move.

Westsider at Rat Chat is saying ROTR is way behind schedule. Dinner Theatre that was cut may open in 2021...

On the bright side more good news for the Mickey ride coming to Toontown.
Well, if a solid, anonymous guy/gal on the internet says it's f*cked, I guess that's that. ;)

Yeah, RotR opening "later in the year" - probably will help dilute opening day crowds a bit.

As long as it isn't like how Haunted Mansion opened later than New Orleans Square!
negative. the crowds will be the same. just like when toon town first opened and rodger rabbit did not open with the land. it had no effect on the crowds

Sorry I don’t feel that I have to put a disclaimer on every post like ...” ok guys even though this guy is just an anonymous guy on the internet with a good track record and good insight that doesn’t mean it’s true.” I’d like to think we re all smart enough that that’s not necessary.

Unless they aren't real lightsabers. They are something a merchant figured out. If I sell canisters, a light up crystal, and an expandable durable blade...these can be assembled into something that seems like a lightsaber but is safe and cheap for younglings. We have toy guns in our world. Why wouldn't they have toy versions of weapons in their world as well?
Fair point

Go away - If you literally want it to be as if you were there... GO THERE. You're dense if you think Disney is or even NEEDS to limit merch in that manner.
1st, you are no one special to tell someone to " go away" so get over yourself. 2nd, you mis-understand my points. I hope the land is successful, I hope the rides are amazing. I am just pointing out that for the level of immersion Disney has been promoting there are some glaring holes and flaws. I don't have a dog in the fight. but it does seem odd to me for a star wars land they are super focused on everything to be connected to their version of star wars instead of the overall history of star wars.

No, you are making up ridiculous rules and standards that are completely detached from reality and history that really have no credibility or impact. I feel dirty for even taking the bait of replying and giving them any attention.

Is this what the schmuck is referencing? This is clearly not Watto, so shut up. That said, these do not look in-universe at all.

Also the shop should've been called Toy-darians and located in Sunshine Plaza in Disney's California Adventure.

To be fair the person who wrote that article has been a CM for over 20 years. I remember him on LP and he has given out a lot of info through the years on upcoming rides and events and he's been right about pretty much everything. He's not one of these people who is always looking at the bad side of things so when he does present bad news I usually listen. It DOESN'T mean he's right, but his batting average is pretty high. I'm pretty convinced its worse now but it doesn't mean it can't open by the summer at least.

I can't bring myself to return to Micechat after being away for so many years. What does it say? Is it bad? Or is it really, really bad?

The ride has startup problems and the parking garage won't be ready until late summer. Something about a restaurant that no one cares about anyway.

Thank you. I appreciate the summary.

For months I've thought that new parking garage wasn't going to be ready by June, let alone May 31st.

I don't care about the restaurant, but shame about the ride.
