I keep thinking about the people in California who are going to just show up during the May 31 - June 23 "reservation" window and have no clue about getting an entrance reservation. That's going to be ugly, unless there's a chunk of those reservations set aside for "walk-up" guests throughout the day.
Ya for a place used to Fastpass and not Fastpass+, it’ll be interesting. A lot of people will see the date and go uninformed.

Yeah, people are stupid and don't read signs or research the place they are going. Everyone lives in a vacuum. Talk about entitled statement. If you insist on being uninformed then don't complain when the stormtrooper at the entrance tells you to move along.

Westsider at Rat Chat is saying ROTR is way behind schedule. Dinner Theatre that was cut may open in 2021...

On the bright side more good news for the Mickey ride coming to Toontown.

They're going to have to fire the head Imagineers and redo 90% of the ride

Well one has to hope that the issues with RotR is short lived and resolved prior to land opening. So that testing can begin and be up and running in mid-June or early July.

"...Most of the land will be filled with queue." Now, that's what I call an immersive experience! It'll be just like actually standing in a mobbed Disneyland! :D

Hahah That was interesting. I took that to mean even shops and eateries will have queues. That definitely doesn’t sound fun but it’s the nature of the beast we re dealing with

Disney's PR (as read by a fawning, gushing local news crew last night) refers to the full scale park MF as a "replica" of the Falcon. I'm hoping they mean replica of a movie prop. When I hear adults babbling about getting a chance to see the "actual" Falcon--as if Star Wars was real history--I want to do a Ron Swanson growl/scream. On a side note, everyone on the news crew seemed to believe that GE will let them climb into the full-scale Falcon on display. :D

Calling @JediMasterMatt!

Are we talking like a month or 6 months later?

I'm trying to confirm; but, best I can tell - the news from yesterday isn't really a delay as much as it is an acceleration for part of the plan. Granted, my sources are primarily in the Lucasfilm side of the project and at this point the project is mostly in the Parks side of the house.

If I had to bet before yesterday, I wouldn't have put money on Alcatraz making a 5/31 opening. A 6/31 opening would've been a different discussion because the planned opening for DL was what all of the preemptive work for shifting blackout dates around was being done for.

There have been some odd things blowing in the wind since the end of January. I heard something that had me cross check with sources and I wonder if part of what I heard (which as a significant delay for DHS) was really some internal discussions on how to handle the news from yesterday.

I'm hopeful, that yesterday's news is simply an attempt to steer crowds around. This is the same company after all that invested billons into crowd steering in the form of wrist bands. Bleed off some of the initial demand by getting passholders in before the blackout to try to keep them away, for "free" at least, once the real opening occurs. An advertised soft opening with limited expectations.

Just a reminder that when Potter began previews Forbidden Journey wasn't operational at the beginning either.

I'm starting to get feelings of claustrophobia when I think about SWGE now... stuck in a crowd, in the heat, between tall spires of fake rock, behind a river, as far from the main gate as it gets...

I'm going to take a stab in the dark and probably be wrong, but I'll guess that rumour of ROTR falling behind was accurate to an extent, requiring it to be pushed back to June. Rather than open the land in June, Disney decided to push on for May, but now they need to avoid everyone who won't be on/in line for ROTR crowding the area and causing a 10 hour wait for the Falcon, so they have the reservation system set up to mitigate crowds until they can get it open. I'm probably wrong. I'm just taking a stab at it.

I was told by my DL contact that the animatronic stormtroopers have not even arrived to the building yet.
