I don't understand this. Disney released a video months ago showing a ride that looks near completion, yet a singular issue is going to delay it opening by months, not just in one, but both parks. How does that even make sense?

I'm gonna stand back and watch this rumor for a bit before believing anything. I wouldn't be surprised if someone is embellishing Alcatraz's problems, but I also wouldn't be shocked if the few clips we've seen are the only portions that are working. Disney's International Parks seem to have a good handle of their trackless vehicles, so I'm hoping this is just an over exaggeration.

It doesn’t sound like a singular issue. It sounds like a very intricate trackless ride system that stops onto motion simulators at several different points and also uses an elevator twice. Creating timing issues.

I know the vehicle enters the elevator to go up for the AT-AT scene... but this post just made me realize I had no idea it came down, and I never considered where.

I think they go up after the AT-AT scene (in that room though). When you come down on the elevator would be the “swift drop” described in the official ride warning. Im guessing this is another shaft located somewhere else as using the same shaft for vehicles going up and down would make this attraction even more of an operational nightmare.

Ever heard about the Jaws ride issues? It was “operational” broke and didn’t reopen for a long long time. Sometimes things just don’t work as designed.

Or the Test Track delays.

There is an elevator they we go up after the AT-AT scene. My source told me about it six months ago.

Because it's a ride system with very complex safety and operating requirements and not just a pretty decorated set of rooms?

Most of the stuff shown in those reports was all pre-existing Disney material. (aka some renders, some real). remember Disney didn't allow any photos on the media tours.

I took a screengrab of that Fox news helicopter video that @TP2000 posted. I'm starting to think the blue shuttle is finished, since you're never going to be walking around to the front of it, and guests further out at the turret entrance will have a forest between them and the shuttle. The model has tricked us again!

But how does that affect both parks? You would think, singular issue or not, it would not also be a delayed opening in Florida, if they already solved it and subsequently opened it in Anaheim. Is it that far behind schedule, they are set to open at the same time after the land also opens in Florida on August 29th. Or is Disney now just doing it at both parks for crowd management? Hmm.

Who says it's behind schedule? Disneyland is opening SW:GE early, Rise of the Resistance may not have ever been intended to be crowd-ready by May 31. Watch this space after June 23.

Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey breaks down a lot. Complicated machinery creates complex maintenance and operational issues.

Forbidden Journey stops are remarkably awkward because the ride car is usually oriented at some bizarre angle and you're just hanging there like you're stuck in a spiderweb.

I went on the original version of Jaws when I was a little squirt and it was pretty much the same except a bunch of blood came out of the water and the shark pulled the boat. That's one of those things I remembered and wondered for a long time if I had remembered it wrong because I never saw it again.

Lol. Disneyland should just fold up shop now. Or maybe Great America should They should stay open more than 2 days in a row.

Hey, CGA's just doing what's logical for their local PR. It's no more seasonal than most other parks that have cold winters. And, remember CGA's big new addition for 2019:

I am certain Iger would have preferred to open GE in one big splash as with Cars Land than in 2 parts, which didn't go so well for WDW's New Fantasyland. Whatevers. It is what it is. I'm happy to wait till it's all finished.

...correct. The drop elevators are near the giant crashed ship/engine looking thingy. (technical I know..)

With the reservation system ending on June 23rd, does that clue us in to a potential opening for Rise of the Resistance? Only reason I say is because the reservation system is clearly in place because of how reduced the capacity of the land will be w/o ROTR. Most of the AP blockout dates start that weekend as well. Are they expecting full capacity starting June 24th?
