Yeah, but now they have to commute. Oh, well, at least the park still employs them. I'm dreading the day the Mouse Lawyers convince the Top Brass that live horses in DL are too much of a liability.

BTW, I'm so old I remember riding the Pack Mules. They were awesome... and a bit scary (which made them even more awesome). :D
I don't think we have to worry about Disney removing live horses. It will be threats of lawsuits from PETA that will do them in. Look at the damage they have done to Sea World.

I said on the Disneyland subreddit that they should cancel all APs to help the overcrowding problem to which I was responded with by downvoting. Seeing as posts on here cannot be disliked, I'll say the same thing: They should cancel all APs to help the overcrowding problem.

He could be the best guy in the whole wide world, but that doesn't mean he should be narrating videos.

Mute is the best feature in many a crappy video.

ShesInLosAngeles gives us great regular updates with little commentary.

Freshbaked can be more fun, but has little knowledge about construction. Their efforts to speculate anyway adds to the fun in how they are often wrong, but always upbeat.

Yensid sadly only posts in monthly bundles. I’m honestly shocked anyone has a gripe against him beyond that. He gets the shots no one else seems to know about. He is very well-informed about what is actually going on. He takes the time to do comparisons to help put everything in the context.

I was at the parks on Tuesday when only the Signature and Signature Plus passes were allowed in. The park was a zoo. Granted its the second day of the year, but it just proves that not only AP's clog the parks.

There are currently only 4 levels of pass now since they got rid of one of the So-Cal passes. I think we need to wait and see if that has any effect.

Most schools are still out for the holiday break. The past few weeks are among the busiest of the year for non-AP guests (hence the blockouts).

Yeah I know.
I think we're just having to face up to the fact that Disneyland is always going to be more crowded than we want...and SWL is not going to impact that in a good way.

It's going to bring in more crowds, but it's also going to absorb a lot too. Let's be thankful they didn't convert an existing part of the park to SWL and instead found new space for it!!!

That is true...I just hope they can figure out a way to keep the crowd flowing through and it doesn't cause logjams. Honestly though, if SWL just absorbed everyone else from the rest of the park, that sounds like a dream. Out of sight, out of mind :)

At the risk of sounding like a broken record I'll remind everyone that overcrowding is entirely controlled by Disney. Capacity and how many people they let in each day can be managed, and they seem tone deaf to the issue. Massive crowds and long lines at Disneyland could easily be remedied if Disney made solving the problem a priority.

That's true too. Clearly they don't see an issue with things.
Or at least, not an issue that demands a remedy.

I'm in 100% favor of dropping the entire AP program. Just offer reasonably priced, non-transferable, non-sequential multi-day passes in their place. And eliminate fast-passes. It's hard for younger fans to believe, but the parks were a lot more pleasant and the lines moved a lot faster in the days when everyone just waited together in the same lines. (Waving old man cane in air) ...and in my youth, we only had single bobsleds! Ah, rose-colored nostalgia! :D

I'm torn on the Fastpass issue. With some attractions, such as Splash Mountain, Haunted Mansion, and Buzz Lightyear, I see zero reason for Fastpasses. However, with attractions like Peter Pan's Flight, Matterhorn, and Space Mountain, I see where they can be more of a benefit.

Under this plan would we somehow be able to rollback to pre-Fastpass daily attendance? Might as well bring back coupon books too to distribute guests more efficiently across the parks while we're at it. :)

Based on published attendance data Disneyland entertains literally twice the number of guests annually now than it did in the early 80s prior to Fastpass. Eliminating the FP program might help alleviate some congestion, who knows, but the only meaningful way to make the parks comfortably manageable year-round is to stop letting so many damn people inside.
