You thought so? I was glued to the screen from the start. I rank Rogue One as one of the best SW films ever.
I rank it ahead of Return of the Jedi and the prequels, but the opening is a mess and the characters aren't as memorable or fleshed out as our usual heroes. Heck, our hero was a less charismatic Rey. I wanted more of what the trailers hinted at. Instead we got a more middle of the road flick. Enjoyable but forgettable.

Perhaps the attractions through Rivers of America, although shortened, will actually be a better experience after this transition is complete.

Which is exactly what I've been saying for over a year. The backside of the Rivers of America was a boring cruise past a dirt berm and a massive wall of overgrown trees and shrubs, with a few fiberglass elk and jiggling Indians placed about to add drama and suspense. Boring!

This new version they are building looks like real Imagineering with a real budget, adding eye candy and interesting visuals all along the way. A huge improvement for Disneyland, setting up the Rivers of America for decades of future entertainment that won't bore kids to death.

Sacrilege! Saint Walt designed that boring back stretch so families could be bored together. ;)

I'm just getting to all this news now after having a house full of family for Christmas, but this is a great video!

The scale is truly huge compared to what had been back there since Big Thunder opened in 1979. What a giant, purposely Imagineered and purposely built improvement for the northern half of Frontierland!

But I think my favorite part was the half dozen glum-faced CM's in funeral-black polyester uniforms stationed along the path, either talking to each other or just staring into the middle distance ignoring everyone walking by. Why are they even there? Maybe Disney could give them some Xanax before their shift to help them fight their depression?

But this concept of construction walk-thrus during busy holiday weeks isn't new. Disneyland did this during the Christmas season of 1982 as they were busy getting New Fantasyland ready for opening in the summer of '83.

Ah, 1982, when we all thought we were so cool because the entire country suddenly switched from the bell-bottomed Britannia jeans we bought in 1979 to straight-legged Levi 501's that became mandatory just three years later. I remember it like it was yesterday.

For all the people saying they were doing the re-shoots to make it more family friendly...if this is where they landed, I'd love to see what they cut that was even darker.

Except for the Vader part, it looks like it was more family friendly to begin with. Heroes surviving and such. In the trailers you can see Jyn running on the beach with the other guy and the robot, hard drive in tow.

That's because the signal tower was originally separate from the main building and both our heroes and villain had to go across the sands. The original script had Jyn as much more troubled and dark and it is about her redemption.

My only criticism of Rogue One is that I didn't think there were enough good moments between the characters. They went from not trusting and generally disliking each other to suddenly being willing to die for each other with not much in between. Other than that, I thought it was very good. My husband thought it was boring as heck though.

The Death Star firing is what brought them together and explains how the rebellion grew against the Empire. Sure it's convenient plot point, but it's not like the characters didn't have a motive to join forces.

82. Has a ring to it doesn't it?

I was also born that year. I like to think that I brought the end of the ticket books, helped the Lakers win the championship and helped MJ release the Thriller album.

Oh ya and for those that care about soccer. Helped Italy win the World Cup.

There are two lingering problems that people get hung up on. Inability to separate distaste of SWE from the RoA project and secondly a lack of understanding of what is being done.

Apart from my harping on it, if you asked most members of this board how much the RoA is being shortened by they'd produce a number 2-4x reality.

Even some insiders have spread misinformation because they are so against the project they haven't bothered to seek the facts.

I'd be all for this in Magic Kingdom but instead of SWL or some other IP land we finally get Western River Expedition. A new one based on what Disney did with Pirates in Shanghai.

I've heard others say it was quite boring as well. Oddly enough, my wife who is not much of a SW fan thoroughly enjoyed it.

I think the end would have still been the same, just some different action with regards to the Death Star plans being delivered.
