Another thing... if you’re gonna spend a crazy amount of money on rockwork... make it something that people really can see like radiator springs. Walking through and seeing the rocks, “monuments” and seeing the racing cars, especially at night, is really cool.

As normal, this is a RUMOR and should be taken with a grain of salt. Jim Hill isn’t always the best source but has been getting good intel as of late. On the newest episode of Looking at Lucasfilm, Jim Hill reports that the restaurant that was originally in the concept art for galaxy’s edge...

The spot where the supper club restaurant was supposed to go is now being used as the Millennium Falcon extended queue when the line goes more than 45 minutes. It's a blacktop parking lot surrounded by cargo containers.

The restaurant won't be there for at least two years, even if they start construction next Monday.

So I just remembered that there is some sort of small waterfall in the ROTR queue. I think they were going for a pretty stark contrast between the ROTR and First Order side of the land. The ROTR queue and surrounding area has a waterfall, caves and trees- things we that come to expect at Disneyland that are pleasant and/ or mysterious. Probably to evoke hope- which is what they want you to feel on the Resistance side of the land. The other reason is they are trying to enforce that there is some space between the two areas.

The First Order side/ village is mostly a dreary sea of beige and things that are broken, blasted etc.. With that said, From what I’ve expeienced, I don’t find the contrast very obvious as the trees/ landscaping is more dessert chaparral not Forresty, the waterfall can only be seen in the queue and beige/ tan still dominate.

Yeah, Brady McDonald over at MC was writing about RotR and said this about the Q:

"Natural windows in the cavern walls offer peeks at what lays ahead in the attraction. A gentle waterfall pours through one window. The rock work — reminiscent of the grotto at the beginning of the Pirates of the Caribbean attraction — keeps the queue cool."

Did you see somewhere that the waterfall can only be seen in the Q?

No, I just said because I walked through the Critter country entrance and passed ROTR but didn’t see any waterfall. That area where the CMs are standing to block the entrance- isn’t that the start of the ROTR queue?

Yes, as far as I know. It would be odd if this wasn't visible outside RotR, but Disney made some odd choices in GE.

It definitely wasn’t easily visible, if visible at all. I also haven’t heard one report of anyone mentioning a waterfall so I’m guessing it isn’t visible outside the queue.

It depends on your definition of visible. It’s technically visible, but it’s not a feature. It’s blocked by trees and such. Traditional theme park design would make the waterfall a feature to draw you into the land and into the marquee attraction, but this is “breaking all the theme park rules” - just not in a good way ha/

The walkway between Hungry Bear and Rise of the Budget Cuts gets slammed by sunlight in the afternoon. It's just brutal. I felt like Sarah Conner after the nuke goes off in her nightmare.

I walked through there after sundown, but even then I could tell it was just sort of a wide concrete road through nothing. I imagine in direct sun from July through October it's going to be brutal if they use it for queue.

I stood in front of the Resistance ride for a minute and peered into the winding queue area while the CM's guarding its entrance ignored me and mumbled to themselves about very important things, but I never saw a waterfall or anything of real interest back there. It was dark.

Yup.... Disney had Lucky the Dino back in 2005.... was really cool to watch. And muppet mobile labs.

But things like that cost money and don’t make money so we can’t have them anymore.

The waterfall is definitely visible from at least one spot. I could see and hear it through the trees in the queue, although it’s an obstructed view.

Someone on a non positive review thread brought up a good point - being that they cut out so much from the land, who’s to say that they didn’t do the same to ROTR?

And they are feverishly figuring out how much they can add back in. At least at DL.

Disney has been doing this crap for decades in Florida, because "good enough" is all they had to do. And SWGE will be packed to the eyeballs from day one there.

I wouldn't be surprised if the restaurant is only being fast tracked for DL

I'm in a strong agreement with this take. I keep saying it, but fans are incredibly defensive of Disneyland. Some people may not love Galaxy's Edge being in Disneyland, but now that it's part of the park people are going to demand the absolute best out of it. Walt Disney World guests will have to settle, but I'm counting on that X-Wing coaster in five to ten years.

I was going to say that in my last post... I wonder if they are going to try to course correct on ROTR in light of these mostly lukewarm reviews at best? If it’s even possible this late in the game

Okay, seriously? Universal Studios has walk around Triceratops and a live Velociraptor show?



But I went to Star Wars Land at Disneyland and all I got was two bored stormtroopers and two shop clerks who were complaining about being scheduled to work on the 4th of July? Disneyland is not having a good summer.

i hope this wakes Chapek up and makes him realize that people aren’t as dumb as he thinks they are and they re not going to just eat up whatever you serve. Maybe it flied with Pixar Pier because expectations were low but not in DISNEYLAND with Galaxies Edge. Better yet I hope he gets fired.
