I'm waiting for tomorrow. I think the chaos will start tonight around midnightish
They are doing the reservation system until June 23 so the max number of people in the land is limited. There’s no standby line for the land or the rides. I don’t expect tomorrow’s reviews to be much different. June 24th could be the more interesting date. @donsullivan is going to be there that day so we’ll get at least 1 firsthand account of the “chaos”.

Depends what their max capacity is for the land. It has a first come first serve at open and as it fills they virtual queue. If they try to keep it at even lower than max and utilize the virtual queue I can see it working quite well indefinitely.

It depends how many people show up to be first in. That may be when crowds show up. Then again, it also depends on how many locals are willing to buy the signature APs or a single day park ticket. The S. CA and deluxe APs are blacked out at DL until the end of August so without upgrading or buying a regular park ticket I assume many locals will be waiting until the blackout is over. That should help level out crowds. No matter what I don’t think any of us will see the land as empty as it was in the media preview videos any time soon, but I agree it seems like the system they have in place with the virtual queue could work well and keep people from waiting 2-3 hours in line.

I agree. Before I knew about the virtual queue I was saying they should just keep the reservation system for the rest of the summer, but where you are allowed to book reservations throughout August and one day at a time, meaning if you book a day, go and reservations are still open for another day you can book again. It would give everyone a chance who really wants to go a chance to see it this summer and keep the craziness down.

But now I think this is the better way to go. It gives people a chance to see it any day they want, they either have to show up super early if they want to see it without (much) waiting or at least get there by the afternoon and get a chance to see it by that night. And while it will still be busy it probably won't be at sardine level.

And I could be completely wrong of course but I have a feeling your easiest chance to see it will be after the fireworks every night because no matter the season, the park really does empty out a lot after that although I know there will be crowds in GE through closing. But I suspect the last few hours of the night will be when it will just be open for everyone on some days. Its all going to be interesting to see how it plays out.

I've been wondering about this "looking back toward Critter Country" view - wondering if there would be any hint of Parking Garage. Nada!

It truly seems far away from the rest of Disneyland, let alone Anaheim!

I got this screengrab from Attractions Magazine's 360 walkthru:

What’s weird to me is almost all the reviews are overwhelmingly positive other than a few people that said the Falcon is close but needs to be tweaked, and yet the doom and gloom is palpable. I love being a Debbie downer but I think we’re jumping the gun a bit.

We'll see what those reviews are for folks who stand in 3-4 hour lines to get a back seat ride that you can't see the screen, and you have buttons flashing to your side constantly.

I'm pretty sure no one has said what that "max number" is. It may be very reasonable. Or it may be enough to put the land under full-on crowds.

Overall I’m relieved by this land. It doesn’t seem to overshadow Disneyland but rather seamlessly pair with it. Star Wars, as a genre, incorporates all the genres of the rest of the park lands, and it seems to be a place you can flit in and out of and enjoy it’s offerings in doses more than feeling like it’s a third park to be devoured. And it allows for that feeling while also being totally isolated from the park around it. I’m excited for this new addition to Disneyland, along with all the other classic offerings I will continue to love and enjoy. If Disneyland was a salad, GE is a generous helping of bacon bits that only enhances the experience as a whole.
This is me finding a solid, happy middle ground between Disney hyperbole and fanboy hyperspace.

Yes thats what I'm so impressed with GE as well. Its literally the biggest land in the park but its so tucked away from everything you can forget its even there. They did such a great job of adding it to its other settings like Critter Country and Frontierland. I love that it completely keeps to the rugged and primitive feel the west side of the park is known for even though it takes place on an alien planet in a galaxy far far away. I heard even when you are inside the land you can't see anything outside of Disneyland other than some of the spires from BTM in the SR queue which only keeps to the theme.

They did a beautiful job of making this land both its own thing but still feel like any other land in the park. I'm just excited we now have 14 additional acres to play in. I would've been happy with any land that expanded the park as much as this did. But for it to be SW is more icing on an already delicious cake.

... ...very weak interactivity outside of the pilot positions... ...
I am not sure there is much interactivity there either; do we know yet if pilots can move at any time, and decide by how much? Or is it the equivalent of quick time events from a video game? That video Disney released shows the pilots just yanking those levers all the way in either direction. I want Disney to do great things, but have people seen most of what they have created as of late?

I noticed that too and there also seems to be a delayed reaction when they are pulling them left and right. I want them to do great too! I thinK ROTR will be great. I think the land is impressive even though the aesthetic doesn’t appeal to me personally. I just think they missed the mark with the Falcon ride experience. “Missed the mark” might even be a little too kind. That would entail that they could make some minor changes to fix it.

I wish I could be excited just because it’s NEW and it’s STAR WARS.

You see the Falcon move down to that lower location while Hondo is talking. I don’t think you ever see two Falcons at once. The Falcon you were looking at visibly moved to a new location in an underground docking bay.
Let me clarify because I think you misunderstood. I did point out you DO see the Falcon fly behind Hondo, my problem with it is that that is not enough story wise to sell the fact the falcon moved from the front. Again, who is flying it to the area that we are at? Not Chewie because seconds later he shows up on screen working in another area. Don't tell me "autopilot" when we have never seen a auto pilot mode on the Falcon in any of the films. sure when its in hyperspace it is more on cruise control but as soon as it is out of hyperspace Han always takes control. We need to see it leave the front of the exterior queue building and show the full landing and see the jetways clamp on to the docking ports. They half heartedly sold the effect. Also when you are ready to "board" the Falcon from the jetway you can see the other Falcon's hallways. so on the right and left you have 2 different Falcons you can walk onto. Ruins the immersion right there. I hope that clarifys my issue.

I am no longer sure about Rise of the Resistance. :(

The Falcon has to have the ability to fire from the cockpit - Han and Chewie are together in the cockpit when they fire on Darth Vader's TIE Fighter escorts in ANH. Firing from the cockpit is obviously more limited than manning the guns directly. Thus I see no problem with the functionality of the gunners in Smuggler's Run.
Yeah but those are modifcations Han has added to the falcon in case of a emergency like at the Hoth base, and they are not very powerful blasters. more like quick machine guns to buy some time until you can get yourself out of danger which is EXACTLY how Han uses them. The main defense canons for the Falcon for protection have never been fired from the cockpitt but always from the canon room a few doors down.

It’s always disappointing when you get people judging and reviewing things designed to be experienced in person via YouTube videos.

Just is the way it is in 2019.

To me Galaxy’s Edge promises to be all about the experience and the immersion. The sounds, the smells, the seeing and feeling it - rather than watching someone’s video on your iPhone. Seeing people’s reactions in person and sharing in the wonder and excitement of actually being there.

I’m not knocking what anyone says, but I for one don’t think I have any valid opinion whatsoever until I’ve actually been.

Those judging it without going might as well review the food whilst they’re at it. They can probably assume the tastes from the 2D video recordings.

I’m as excited about going as I was the day they announced it. I hope everyone has a great time when they manage to get there.
I didn't have to see the full Emoji movie the way it was meant to be experienced on the big screen in person to be able to tell it was god awful when the trailer itself did that just fine which i watched on you tube. all these you tube reviews and clips are just pieces of the puzzle and when you add them together you can clearly form a educated opinion on how the ride and land are. being there in person just means you get to suffer in person.
