Yes, at the start of the ride you select between automatic and manual aiming. There are 3 vertical buttons and they represent aiming up, straight ahead, and down. So when you are in manual mode you can crudely aim that way, but it's a bit difficult since you're in an awkward position trying to see what's happening on screen while pressing the buttons off to your side.

I just ended up pressing all 3 at once anyway.
So if I’m understanding this correctly, in manual mode you are supposed to choose the correct button of the 3 to fire. In automatic mode do all 3 buttons work the same or does the “correct” button light up or something to tell you which button to push?

Basically the pilots will be attempting to line up with various targets, and how they position the ship in relation to the target dictates which button you would want to press (if you're flying below the target, press the top button to fire up, etc.)

As for automatic mode, I didn't personally try that out so I can't say. My partner accidentally selected it our second time through, but I didn't look over to see if they all lit up or if only the 'correct' one was lit.

Yes. It's a totally different ride vehicle. One that is a "car" with multiple axes of movement vs a trackless vehicle. No one would argue that point. But the full-size AT'AT's and Kylo Ren interactions and the "drop return to Batuu" will bring the ride together to make it an amazing feat of Imagineering.

Why does height restriction matter? The vehicles are different. In Star Tours you are buckled into a long row of seats with little to hold on to. In SR you have one seat so you are more firmly planted in your seat. The amount of motion isn't what determined the height restriction here.

I don't know what the resolution is, but it's high. It's very high. And there are 8 video cards in SLI configuration making that video. The video is not rendered ON THE FLY and not pre-rendered. That is a HUGE difference in required video power. The fact that Imagineering pulled that off with the quality they have says what a great job they have done with this. Whether you agree or not does not matter.

There are 3 full size Indys, a drop under the rolling boulder, Mara.

Height restrictions are set by not only restraints, but FORCES. Smaller kids can't be thrown around as much.

I would think a few folks learned the "insider info" is a lot of BS. So many things taken for fact for SR were obviously wrong, yet Insiders would swear it was all true.

RotR should be a very fun ride. Can Disney outdo Indy? I don't know if they even try in the US, honestly.

Don’t oversell those reviews. They’re mildly critical at best.

But I’d chuckle if Disney’s biggest foray into an interactive, video game-like ride experience is met with frustration from the greater public. Like they learn they really didn’t want all that interactivity.

I think it is HUGE that these two Disney loving sites really are critical.

Having the fire buttons on the side is just dumb. You should have a panel in front of you with buttons layer out so you can see them peripherally, and push buttons without taking your eyes off the screen, like, you now, video games have done since Space Invaders came out.

Plus, even the staged video shows the pilots moving the yolks from one extreme to the other. That is sure to be awful piloting. Perhaps more resistance on the yolks so you realize you are moving it a lot

Makes sense. Thanks for sharing the details. :)

Has anyone been able to get photos of the area around RotR? I haven't seen any yet anywhere.

It's a LOT of trees and bushes. You can barely see any of the giant tube thing that is the exit to RotR--just some glimpses between the greenery, and the slightest flash of white on the Resistance shuttle (which I don't think is intended to be seen at all from the walkway). But I was curious about concealing virtually all of the giant brown tube. It's quite nice, and a counterpoint to the village/First Order area.

Stoked about that pyro heavy stunt show. Does that happen multiple times a day? It ties into when Kylo comes out of his ship and says there is a spy around and that they need to find her.

We didn't see this during CM previews. I hope it's a regular part. It would make sense of that whole building being closed--otherwise it's just a big set for three speeders in a repair shop.

Just saw a full queue video of Smuggler's Run. Very lame queue by the way. Indy's is still the best but here are some things that really stood out to me as being done badly. The transition into the falcon from the space body shop is horribly done. One minute you are in the the space auto shop talking to Hondo then you turn a corner and all of a sudden you are in a jetway and when you step in the jetway THE IMMERSION IS INSTANTLY RUINED because you can see other falcon hallways people will enter as you enter a different one indicating there is more than one falcon right off the bat. This is supposed to be the one and only falcon right? So how is it i am looking at 2 the second I am about to walk on the falcon?? You set up the outside of the queue with the main physical flacon, have us walk behind it in awe and the second we are about to step into it you automatically ruin your own illussion and reveal this is a ride by seeing more than one falcon?? Why???? Also the story of how Hondo gets the falcon is soo rushed and horribly explained. You see the falcon show up behind him with no story of who is currently flying it to this area so we can board it. If someone else is flying it already, why does Hondo need us as a flight crew? We need to see the falcon leave the queue exterior where it is parked and follow it to where we board it. This is just common sense. The chess room is ok but it waaay to big and the seats around the chess board are made of the same material as mickey's furniture in his house in toon town. Hard as a rock and it takes you out of it because it looks fake and not like a real couch. Plus no projections on the chess board to make us think we are playing chess. The chess board is one of the most iconic moments in ALL OF STAR WARS because people want to play the holographic chess. All you do is push light up buttons as if playing the game Simon. Add a projection to show on the chess board of the classic chess pieces at least. Again it is a MISTAKE to have more than one flight crew in the chess room story wise. So if i see another group go before me why does Hondo need my group and what am i doing when they are flying? why am I chilling in a room on the same ship and feel none of their movements? Or feel the damage? If they total the ship does my group have to wait until ita fixed before i go? If not and their mission was a success why does Hondo need me? Huh? Also there are 2 doors to enter the cockpitt?? So you chill and watch hondo on a tv outside the cockpitt door then that door opens to reveal the actual cockpitt door and a Hondo mechanic(cast member) who lets you in the room. So Hondo added a extra door when there never was one before and it and the tv are suddenly snapped by Thanos out of existence before RISE OF SKYWALKER by Chewie or Lando? Huh???? And after seeing more ride Povs the thing has very less movement than star tours does and it looks too much like a video game it ruins the immersion. This ride is not E ticket more like C or D. I really hope I am wrong and when I go on it I end up falling in love with it and the experience but just going off what I have seen it looks fake and cheap. I am not hating for haters sake. But these are very real complaints. They easily could have made a better way to enter the falcon and dome SOMETHIMG with the ramp. Oh and the exit looks horrible. Not even a hallway its like you exit out some random room into a jetway and based on the damage you did you hear some electric sounds and some lights blinking. Seems like a wasted opportunity. Hopefully ROTR turns out better. I will say the Hondo AA is very impreseive but its movements make it easy to tell its a robot. The shaman in Nagi River Journey is still the best because its movements are soo life like. And the Belle AA we've seen from the Beauty and Beast ride preview looks more real just for the emotions it displays in the face alone. Hondo is good but not the best. And i still do not care about who Hondo is

Well said. I remember the layouts showing how groups would be sequestered in each section of the Falcon. It COULD have been done much better. 4 Hondos, 4 ramps in to the Falcon (what a HUGE fail). An added holding area between the chess rooms and the cockpit area would have been a much better way to keep groups apart for the most part, and still get capacity. The insider layouts, and promises of an exact Falcon wakthoght are laughable now.

Wait--first you criticize if the least little thing is out of place on the Falcon, then you want to move the firing panel onto the back of the pilot's chair. Inconsistent much?

No, because they should be away from the cockpit, so they are already completely non canon. At least give a control similar to it. Luke didn't sit in back pushing buttons to take out tie fighters

I can see the path this thread has taken is going to require aggressive use of the Ignore button. Good grief. Some people are incapable of positive thought when it comes to Disney. And if you have not experienced it in person you have even less credibility. I personally have not seen it yet and will hold my judgment until I do get a chance to ride on 6/21/19.

So stop complaining and tell us why you think it will great based on the videos, reviews and info we have. What have you contributed to this thread? Its interesting to me that the folks who have an issue with some negative opinions around here don't seem to be posting anything to tell us why the Falcon ride is or why they think it will be great.

The Falcon has to have the ability to fire from the cockpit - Han and Chewie are together in the cockpit when they fire on Darth Vader's TIE Fighter escorts in ANH. Firing from the cockpit is obviously more limited than manning the guns directly. Thus I see no problem with the functionality of the gunners in Smuggler's Run.

It’s always disappointing when you get people judging and reviewing things designed to be experienced in person via YouTube videos.

Just is the way it is in 2019.

To me Galaxy’s Edge promises to be all about the experience and the immersion. The sounds, the smells, the seeing and feeling it - rather than watching someone’s video on your iPhone. Seeing people’s reactions in person and sharing in the wonder and excitement of actually being there.

I’m not knocking what anyone says, but I for one don’t think I have any valid opinion whatsoever until I’ve actually been.

Those judging it without going might as well review the food whilst they’re at it. They can probably assume the tastes from the 2D video recordings.

I’m as excited about going as I was the day they announced it. I hope everyone has a great time when they manage to get there.

Lol. This is just silly. I understand that taking data and making an educated guess is difficult for some people. But what about when we have critical reviews from Disney loving sites from people who HAVE been on the Falcon confirm some of those negative opinions? Is that a coincidence?

I wish they knocked it out of the park. I really do. I just think they missed. They banked too much on peoples love for the Falcon/ Star Wars lore and very weak interactivity outside of the pilot positions instead of focusing on making it a great attraction first and bonafide hit across the board.
