Random thoughts on GE food.

I see nothing wrong with Disney trying out non-typical items. Some of it will be popular, some not so much. The market usually sorts this out.

More people are eating vegan/plant based meals, so why not offer it? Personally, I wouldn't touch an Impossible Burger, but again the market usually sorts this out.

Also, no problem with the pretense of food from other-worldly sources. Disney, for better or worse, are trying 'immerse' us in to Batuu, so you aren't eating chicken or pizza (which you can get in numerous other places anyway). The idea of switching to regular park food and just calling them Space Burgers or Galactic Nuggets doesn't do much for me.

Is the food worth the price? Probably not, but the same goes for about 85% of what you get throughout the resort.

yeah I agree. I don’t have any problems with what they re doing either. The issue is that most of it doesn’t taste any good.

One thing that needs to happen to make Star Wars Land successful is for Disneyland to move all of its Star Wars offerings into the land. Obviously stuff like Hyperspace Mountain and Star Tours won't make that move, but the other characters and Launch Bay offerings need to make that jump to hyperspace and move into the Star Wars land. (Remove the Hyperspace overlay to Space Mountain, and shutter Star Tours to become a new ride in a New Tomorrowland.)

This of course would end WDI's lame attempt at making Batuu a failed version of Colonial Williamsburg. They'd need to give up on whatever meaningless and confusing timeline they've created with the various "trilogies" that 98% of Americans don't understand or don't care about.

Make Star Wars Land the place in Disneyland to experience.... wait for it... Star Wars. And then free up Tomorrowland to be itself again. You would also concentrate the Star Wars part of your Disneyland visit to the park's Star Wars Land. ;)

WDI is to blame for this mess. These creative decisions were made by executives who have just proved to everyone they have no idea how Disneyland works and operates day to day, and how the customers interact with the product they pay for with their park ticket. It's not impossible to unwind and fix, but it's going to take a lot of WDI executives and few top Burbank execs like Mr. Chapek to stop pretending they know how to run a Disneyland. Because it's now very obvious that they don't.

There will need to be some major executive ego reductions in order for the real fixes to be made, but luckily they already have built a gorgeously designed Star Wars Land to do this in.

Every so often you see these on-line polls about the most popular fictional characters. Who knows about the poll methodology, but more often than not you will see Darth Vader, Han Solo, Luke Skywalker, et al somewhere on the list.

But you can't see any of them in the new, state of the art, billion dollar Star Wars Land.

It's really a mind boggling decision when you think about it.

I really think Launch Bay and Path of the Jedi will close early next year. There is really no need for that advertisement after the Rise of Skywalker comes out. Hopefully Hyperspace Mountain returns to normal in March after a nice two month refurb to get effects working again. Star Tours will stick around until they demo the building for something brand new.

Question is, is it better to have empty buildings for years or have something lame in them for a few hundred guests?

If you had homegrown characters for a big IP you bought, wouldn't you want to popularize them over the already established ones?
It's like buying the Muppets and creating new Muppets instead of using Kermit and the gang.

Since moving and upgrading passes, I’ve been eating in SWL more and have honestly enjoyed most of what I’ve had. The Ronto Wrap is easily the best thing, but the ribs and cold noodle salad were way better than I expected, and my friend really liked the pot roast. The popcorn and various milks are still bad, but the actual meal stuff has been solid.

The price has been my biggest sticking point. Lower it and I’d probably eat there more often.
