Why do they call plant-based meat meat? Am I missing something here?

You aren't missing anything, I've never understood it either.

It's weird that vegetarians would want to keep using the word "meat" for things that are supposed to replace actual meat. Like they can't forget how good meat is, so they try and trick themselves into thinking they are still eating meat when they aren't. The same can be said for the various beverages they still title "milk".

By the way, I'm making Ina Garten's meatloaf recipe tonight. Using ground beef and pork, that are products of a dead cow and a dead pig. I'm calling it meatloaf.

Back OT, I read in the DHS thread that WDW renamed the menu items in Star Wars Land removing the Star Warsy cutesy names. The Tip Yip is now just called Chicken Salad, etc. Did Disneyland do the same with their Star Wars Land menus?

EDIT:
I just went and looked for my damnself, and Disneyland has kept the cutesy Star Wars names. For now. I wonder why WDW felt the need to dumb it down, as seen in the menu sheet below from DHS? Bright Suns!

Dumbing down the menu is, well, so...dumb? Florida? Disney? (You pick.)

It was just reported on WDW nt the Star Wars names are back. I wish they'll just give these menu items a number. Ordering by number is much easier than saying them. The problem is the actual description is easier to process and say than the terrible Star Wars menu item names. Perhaps they should categorize the meat products and the process of cooking. Give the Star Wars items a name like what they do at Aulani where they teach them Hawaiian words.

1. Chicken (Yiptip) - Fried, Roasted,
2. Pork (Kaadu) - Smoked Ribs

The two week reservation period has been lifted today for Savi's, Droid Depot, and Oga's. You can now make reservations 60 days ahead which is what I just did for my Thanksgiving week trip.

The proper term is "plant-based meat substitute", but the laziness (and the space-saving) of removing "substitute" completely changes the meaning and makes it sound dumb.

You're probably right. It's probably just laziness. But it's also kind of weird how they still cling to it.

But what about how the Vegans still use the word "milk" for liquid that isn't milk? Soy milk, Almond milk, etc.

Milk is a protein secretion from the mammary glands of female mammals. An almond can't do that. 🧐

Apparently the names have not been changed back. They still have the basic names on the WDW website and as of today still have the "new" menu boards showing the basic names. Fried Chicken! I have been IMMERSED.

Go Florida! You're really awesome! Raise the bar even higher!

I don't remember seeing this menu board at the Disneyland version, but I do enjoy they've put the little "Kids Meals Also Available" blurb right next to the cocktail and beer menu. Kids meal available with Gold Lager Beer. 🤣
