Nicely done. They hit all the notes. It was upbeat, it acknowledged all the people who made it happen, respected the fans, remembered our most recent loss in the SW family, and placed it in context. I don't think it was as bloated as many of these things can be. My best friend produces corporate events and this was clean and well-produced. The music was excellent (although I questioned the Imperial March for Mark Hamill's entrance), lighting and special effects were great, and the overall tone struck me as just right. I liked it.

Agreed on all points - but Hamill entered to the Throne Room March from ANH, a variation on the Force theme.

Wow a few hours ago when it (JUST) dawned on me people from the films might show up I didn't realize they would go out as big as they did. Seeing George Lucas was an obvious given. They obviously going to have him there. I suspected were going to get the newer cast like Daisey Ridley or John Boyega. It was cool to see the old crew show up instead! Mark Hamill was a surprise too but honestly if they ask him to dress up like Luke at the local mall he would do it lol. Loved Billie Dee was there as well.

But getting Harrison Ford to show up for this was a WOW moment! I always wonder what do they have to do for him to show up to things like this? Do they give him a Porsche or threaten his family? With Disney it can go either way. ;)

But yea a nice opening. From here on out if you don't want to be spoiled, stay off the internet and throw your phone in the ocean. ;)

I stand corrected on Hamill's entrance tonight, but disagree about the relationship between the Throne Room March and the Imperial March. The throne room scene began with a fanfare followed by a martial setting of Luke's theme--the same theme that played during Luke's double sunset scene in ANH--my favorite cue of John Williams' scores for the SW canon. The Tatooine sunset and Yavin throne room are my two favorite musical cues from ANH and I've listened to them over and over. Incidentally, at this year's Oscars for the In Memoriam segment, the LA Philharmonic played my favorite Williams cue from the original Superman--his departure from his mother and Smallville in the cornfield (very similar in feel to Luke's theme).

Glad to see George Lucas up there tonight during the dedication.
I had been curious as to if he would be there.

Totally surprised by Harrison Ford's appearance.
Very cool...and unexpected.
Nice surprise.
His nod to Peter Mayhew was a heartfelt moment.

Chewie being able to appear in the actual cockpit of the Falcon during the presentation was a neat moment.
I didn't imagine that it had been built to accommodate performers.

i bet he got to go up the ramp

Most of the Disney Parks live/blog folks are. They come off as super scripted and "fake"
Yeah, the DisneyParksBlog livestreams always felt a bit amateurish compared to any of Disney's TV Specials (Mainly the ones from the 80s and 90s where it felt more real and genuine and hosts were more professional.) I would even go as far to say that even some of Disney's recent specials felt more organized. Maybe in the future could have get better hosts where they didn't seem fake or scripted.

Its a different story for livestreams held at Disneyland Paris and the other Disney Parks outside of the US.

Who is "no one"? The voices inside your head?

Lots of people like Poe, Finn, and Rey. You, not so much.
you're right in that people don't like me... they instead LOVE ME. In the way people LOVE: Han, Luke, Leia, Chewie. but no one on this board can honestly say they LOVE: Poe, Finn, Rose, Rey. and Igor didn't love them enough to include them in the ceremony. it's funny they brought out Luke and Han who have nooo representation in the land itself. Ironic.

Iger was created at the Droid Depot in Star Wars Galaxy's Edge, open now!
lol...

While watching him speak, I said to my husband (in droid voice): Step 1, build Star Wars. Step 2, Profit. (There might've been robot arm movements too. Can't prove anything.)
