I'm surprised there aren't more blackout dates sprinkled throughout the year to give themselves a chance to refurb any of the common areas that are worn-down or broken or too grimy for the night janitors to clean.
Right…no doubt this is all about deep cleans and touch up paint…

The good news is they pick when school kids are out…very good time for “forced rehab”

I don’t get it? Nobody can resist this ip…and the box office charts on those brilliant movies can it be denied 🤷🏻‍♂️

I'm not sure if that's feasible -- it's not designed to operate like a standard resort. Even ignoring the small number of rooms that could cause profitability/pricing issues, it's lacking most of the other amenities people associate with a hotel.

They'd probably need to do some major renovations to operate it that way.

Nah!

They just need to add a pool!

I'll see myself out.

Can't believe no one posted this yet.

A sneaky way for a discount without a discount.

Very similar to the dvc “it’s not cash…it’s points…so we’ll make a number to give you a discount” scheme they sent out a couple months back.

It was laughed at and ignored.

But this does show where they’re at as credit tightens/runs out…trying to do 20% overpriced rooms discounts packaged with discounts on something that was overpriced out of the gate.

Gotta get that dividend back

There’s really no way to do that…those hotels have high employee to occupant ratios. They work on volume (just like parks…for another day). All designed to make money across a spectrum of POS in high and consistent volume. There is no “boutique” way to profits…it’s about churn at volume.

How long until this concept changes. It’s doomed and far too overpriced to kept going long term. There’s only so many super fans to fill this thing until it dries up.
Well…there is “a way”…and it’s not that hard.
IMHO, almost everything in Galactic Cruiser could have been done in Galaxy's Edge and added more atmosphere to the land.
The land sucks too…but that’s fogs up this picture even more.

I just don't understand it. Even just bringing it down to $2,000 for a family of 4 and I think alot more people would be on board. Yes it's still expensive, but I think it atleast drops it down to the level of semi affordable, especially for a once in a life time experience.

My kids are obsessed with Rey & the new movies, they would absolutely love this, there's just no way I can justify dropping $5k+ on a day and a half worth of entertainment.
Because they’ve sold Wall Street that “affordable” is not their goal…and further more that they’re such a fortress of solitude - impregnable - that it never will be needed again.

That’s all Bob Iger and he’s got some issues here…

The movies are awful too. So the kids have diminished their influence over all 3 eras because of reduced numbers.

Next step will be, IMO, a mix of "voyages" on certain days with the full experience and then "daytrips" on other days that include the finale as a separate stage show and the restaurant is open for lunch and dinner.

That would still waste the space of the rooms, but it's something.

IMO it was doomed to fail from the beginning. There is only so many Star Wars fans that would pay the price do it. The majority view it as one and done.
Prohibitively expensive for most park goers.
So that always left open the question as to how large an audience is/was out there for such an experience, and how long could that audience sustain it?
I said weeks ago, that changing the theme to a Vader theme would certainly bump up the crowds.
In part, because there is a large portion of fans out there that outright said they wouldn't do this cruise because they have no interest in most of the characters it involves.

Even then that's not a long term solution. It will always be a one and done for most people.

I also agree with folks here that the target audience was very narrow from the beginning. Not only was the cost extremely high but you needed to have some form of knowledge on Star Wars. Furthermore I also would suggest anyone booking shouldn't take their kids under the age of 7. It's just not for them.

Sad to see that this isn't working but pretty easy to see why it isn't.

Even for those who are fans and can afford it the price is hard to justify, we just booked a seven night Norwegian Fjords cruise on DCL that was only a couple thousand more than 3 days on the StarCruiser would be.

7 nights cruising world heritage sites in Norway for $7k or 3 days of Star Wars for $5k? It was an easy choice for us. Unless you have a ton of disposable income and can do it all, or you are just a Star Wars super fan, it’s a tough sell.

That's where we're at as well, for 3 adults (DD14), 3k is about the max DH or I would feel comfortable and that's pushing it a bit.

It's a disaster to me with the knowledge that the small, landlocked park next to it still needs more things to do and they wasted space on this.
That's what kills me--most of the experiences on Galactic Starcruiser should be part of normal theme park admission (lightsaber training, character meet and greets) or add ons that require a lot less time and money up front (a sit-down restaurant with a stage show). They've all been put behind this $6k paywall and the structure of the building means that even if they drop the cruise concept, it's still going to be difficult to fix it so that more people can enjoy these experiences at a reasonable-for-Disney price.

The way the place is run also means that whoever's working there must be completely exhausted--I wouldn't be surprised if labor issues are dragging the place down, as much as WDW can experience those.

Incredibly greedy and yes, they deserve to be closed for "refurbishments" on July 4 of all weekends.
