The more I think about it…they should have just built an elevated rail transport system, but made the vehicles look like the Starcruiser shuttles.

Then, hide the tracks in the scenery of galaxy’s edge, so it adds to the atmosphere of the land being a spaceport.

we’re not getting the X-Wing drones back anytime because they’re too much of a risk to people walking below, so why not at least make an effort?

My view is they should have gone the Club 33 approach and done no marketing. I think it would have sold itself, at least initially, and it would have been a much more mysterious and exclusive experience - which is really should be given its price. It has been marketed like something that would cost $200 a night - its very odd to me.
I don't believe Disney has been good at marketing for 20 years.

OMG!! That would be the worst thing ever!!! And what would happen if ever a ride broke down while people were on it!!! THE MAGIC WOULD BE GONE!!1!!

How many rides do you pay 6k for? In a vacuum?

This entire idea is too complex. Theres a reason people dont rent hotel rooms inside the parks. The logistics of it are tremendous and at this price point lets be frank...it has to be perfect. People could stay a week more or less at a ritz carlton for this kind of dough.
On RotR, the first shuttle you board is just a box on a very big turntable. The outside you see doesn't move at all, it's just a facade.

Everyone's favorite, the Hydrolator, was just a box that didn't go anywhere.

Those are far more accessible boxs though? Dont you agree? Whats a bix with a high barrier of entry called?

Because I’m here ? There are CM’s on this site
And? I’m very pro-cm…ask around…

but you would know you aren’t given much corporate level “secrets”

I’ll wait to observe what they can pull off…as it’s fair.

the advertising and pr lead has been downright awful. Hard to indicate otherwise.

and the Bobs have consistently underdelivered and Overcharged…even with their new parks bagman

I think the genius in the marketing prior to that is it was more subdued….the product was allowed to speak for itself.

now with the digital world…too much is said/discussed…it would be hard to deliver.

the problem is when Disney tries to promise things…like the last “amazing, cutting edge experience”…which just isn’t.

They've been doing that with the parks for quite some time. Over promising and under delivering.

more like… a truck frame is not a constrained space like a motor coach chassis is. Why spend all that money for a structure that doesn’t fir your purpose?

a ladder frame is the right design to allow you to build a custom application on. Exactly why other builds use the same concept
Right.
But they're not building off of these things.
They're straight up trucks, with a themed interiors that people will ride in.

Uhh - no its not. That is a chassis cab truck platform. Just like mechanics build from, ambulances, specialized crane trucks etc.

basically they are a plaform intended to be built out by the customer or a company that builds custom products. It’s basically an open platform used by companies besides the actual vehicle manufacturer.

it’s a disney box on a truck frame

To reverse the perspective on the transport: what do you think the general reaction would be (based on the same information) if instead of it being the exclusive transport of the ultra-deluxe cruise experience, it was going to be an added C-ticket to the land itself? I think even the most defensive here would be highly skeptical, even leaving the challenges of capacity aside. I don’t have confidence this is going to be a good enough experience to count as a ‘attraction’, but at the asking price, shouldn’t it?

For that matter, if the transport experience does turn out to be compelling enough, why not make it an up-charge attraction from Batuu during the off-hours that it’s not needed for Starcruiser transport? Get the parks budget to pay for it!

It does make more sense to use a truck for this transport than a bus.
For all of the reasons you've stated.
I don't disagree with any of that.
I just fail to believe that they are putting in the work to make this a convincing space vehicle.
Of course they aren't. I'll never believe the original plans weren't for a rail transport. It would be an almost straight shot.

Behind all the fun front facades most of the parks dark rides are just big boxes, Haunted Mansion is a big box, Pirates is a big box, It’s a Small World is a big box, etc, etc… we just don’t care because we never see the box.

This is no different, the people staying at the hotel will never see the truck, they’ll go from a themed spaceport, through an “airlock” into a “transport”, and through another “airlock” into Galaxy’s edge. They’ll never see the outside of the vehicle so unless they read blogs they’ll never know they’re actually in a big box on the back of a truck.
