I'm sure that was part of it. This is a Bob Chapek project, after all. But to create a show vehicle within a bus, you'd need heavy modifications to the bus itself, and then because of that you have to beef up it's frame and suspension.

Just like passenger train cars have much lighter suspensions and have much lighter payload capacities than cargo train cars, a commercial box truck is going to have much higher payload capacities and handle onboard torque and movement stresses far better than an airport shuttle bus.

But, like that tacky photo of Mr. Vahle posing with a bunch of unready CM's in nurse uniforms, the lack of awareness to not realize this box truck shuttle thing would attract attention is troubling. Who's in charge???
There's no show vehicle built inside these trucks.
It's a truck with a themed interior.

Well, yes. I guess "show vehicle" is overstating it.

But it will surely have the ability to put on a "show" inside. Rumbling bass, lighting effects, HD screenz, audio soundtrack, an active suspension for the passenger compartment, etc.

I know the standards have crashed to a new low all over the company. The examples of that are glaring and increasingly common. But I simply can't believe that there won't be a C Ticket sense of showmanship inside the truck's passenger cabin.

The Safari vehicles were built on truck chassis for similar reasons, why completely re-engineer a bus for additional weight when you can just use a truck chassis instead?
But the safari vehicles are trucks being used as trucks. They're supposed to be trucks.
They go over some pretty rough ground.
It would make no sense to go through the trouble of converting a bus into a truck, when you can start with a truck.

I don't think we're getting much of that.

But this is supposed to be a space ship, so why does it matter what they start with? If they started with a bus, they would have to rip out the interior, seal off all the windows and driver compartment, and then build the themed interior. Seems to make much more sense to start with an empty vehicle and build out from there.

It does make more sense to use a truck for this transport than a bus.
For all of the reasons you've stated.
I don't disagree with any of that.
I just fail to believe that they are putting in the work to make this a convincing space vehicle.

Well they removed the seats from Shrek up the street so they are available for this "experience".
Solves the motion base issue you just have the seats move a bit. Like the blue people WDW can repurpose anything.
Genius of the truck is you can just turn it back to the lessor when this "experience" tanks. Less cash lost

Got to return it with a full tank of gas too.

Lmao that J Lo trailer is actually compelling unlike this hotel.

I think a big reason some people are down on this project is that we don't get any sense of grandeur from the outside to be hyped about. Now I know disney famously uses the go away green for structures that are not a focal point from certain vantages, but its just a bit odd to have a hotel where nothing is really made to be viewed from the outside. Add to that the lack of hype from what we have seen in promos from the inside.

The problem as I always say is the addiction disney has to only build things that directly increase revenue and not just because they are good and make people want to vacation with them in the long run. If they were confident in this experience they would not need to market it at all. the tim trackers of the world can do that for them. I think the marketing is more about keeping the social pressure on for people who can afford this. People are less likely to admit something like this was a rip off when everyone around them knows about it and how expensive it is.
